Daily Inspiration: Meet Mirjam Aru

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mirjam Aru.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
From a young age, creativity was always at the center of my life. I began my professional singing journey at 12 years old after being selected for one of Estonia’s biggest televised talent competitions. The format paired young talents with well-known mentors in music and entertainment, and my team ended up winning the very first season of the show. That experience opened the door for me to step into music professionally and made me realize how deeply connected I was to performing and storytelling.

As I grew older, I continued developing as an artist and later competed on Estonia’s version of American Idol, where I made it to the final stages of the competition. That experience pushed me creatively and personally, teaching me discipline, resilience, and how much I truly loved being on stage.

Music and film have always been deeply connected in my life because I grew up in a very creative family. My brother is a cinematographer and founder of a video production company, and together we’ve created multiple music videos and visual projects. My father is a film director and screenwriter, and many of the stories we’ve worked on as a family have been passion projects built from years of dedication and belief.

At a young age, my father wrote a screenplay inspired by me and my brother, which led our family to move from Estonia to Los Angeles to film a pilot project with actor Doug Hutchison, known for The Green Mile. That experience introduced me to the film industry very early on and inspired me to seriously pursue acting. Since then, I’ve studied at places like the Beverly Hills Playhouse, Ruskin School of Acting and the Baron Brown Studio in Santa Monica, where I trained in Meisner acting.

Over the years, my father has written multiple screenplays, many of them in English and developed alongside established Hollywood script consultant who has worked on films such as Braveheart, Apollo 13, and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. These projects are incredibly meaningful to me because they combine storytelling, emotion, spirituality, and human transformation — themes that are also deeply present in my music.

In music, I’ve written many original songs and currently have several fully produced EDM tracks, including my released single “Arriving Home,” with a music video which was filmed in Hawaii. Right now, I’m focused on building the right team around me — people who truly understand my artistic vision and can help bring the music and larger creative projects to the world on a bigger scale.

At the beginning of 2026, I took my biggest leap yet and moved to Los Angeles on my own for several months to study acting, network, and pursue new opportunities in both music and film. I arrived with no industry connections, no friends, no established network, and very limited resources, but I built relationships, attended acting school, searched for investors, and immersed myself fully in the creative world. It was challenging, exciting, and transformational — exactly the kind of experience that fuels me as an artist.

Beyond music and acting, I’m also passionate about healing, spirituality, and personal transformation. I grew up around holistic practices and believe strongly in energy, faith, manifestation, and living in alignment with purpose. That perspective shapes everything I create. Whether through music, film, or personal connection, my goal has always been to create work that genuinely moves people, inspires them, and reminds them that anything is possible when passion and purpose come together.

I believe I’m only at the beginning of what I’m here to create.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road definitely hasn’t been smooth, but I honestly believe every challenge has shaped me into the person and artist I am today.

From a young age, I was introduced to both the beauty and the reality of the entertainment industry. While music and film opened incredible doors for me, they also taught me early on that these industries can be unpredictable and extremely competitive. There were moments where projects didn’t work out the way we hoped, opportunities fell apart, or situations behind the scenes became disappointing. But instead of becoming bitter, those experiences taught me resilience, discernment, and the importance of staying true to myself.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that setbacks are never the end of the story. Every obstacle teaches you something valuable if you’re willing to grow through it instead of letting it defeat you.

My family and I have sacrificed a lot pursuing our creative dreams. During some of our early years in Los Angeles, there were times when all of us — my father, brother, younger sister, and I — were living out of a van near Santa Monica while trying to build our projects and create opportunities in the film industry. Looking back, it sounds intense, but some of my strongest memories come from that time. We stayed close, kept creating, kept believing, and learned how little you actually need to keep moving forward when you have purpose and people you love around you.

I’ve also experienced the loss of projects we poured years of energy into, and there were moments where it felt like everything we had worked for was being tested. But those experiences gave me a very strong mindset. They taught me how to adapt, how to survive uncertainty, and how to continue creating even when life feels unstable.

At times, I’ve also felt different from people my age because I became independent and emotionally mature very early. I’ve always been deeply driven by purpose, creativity, spirituality, and building something meaningful with my life. That path can sometimes feel lonely, especially when your dreams are bigger than your current circumstances. But over time, I’ve learned to embrace that difference instead of seeing it as a weakness.

What keeps me grounded through all of it is faith — faith in God, faith in the process, and faith that challenges are often preparing you for something greater. I truly believe that mindset changes everything. No matter what obstacles come, I try to stay grateful, keep learning, and continue moving forward with intention.

I think resilience is one of the most important qualities you can have as an artist, and every challenge I’ve faced has only strengthened my passion for what I do.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a singer, actress, and creative producer focused on emotionally driven music and cinematic storytelling. My work blends music, film, and visual art with themes of transformation, spirituality, healing, and human connection.

Right now, I’m focused on developing my music career, acting, and producing larger creative projects. I’ve released original music, including my EDM single “Arriving Home,” which was filmed in Hawaii, and I’m continuing to build new projects both in music and film.

Alongside entertainment, I’m also developing a wellness and healing brand inspired by the holistic and spiritual environment I grew up in. That side of my work is deeply personal to me and rooted in helping people reconnect with themselves emotionally and spiritually.

What sets me apart most is probably the amount of life experience I’ve had at a young age. I’ve taken unconventional paths, traveled independently, built projects from the ground up, adapted to uncertainty, and pursued my creative vision far outside of my comfort zone. Those experiences taught me resilience, independence, and how to keep moving forward even when things feel unpredictable.

I think that perspective naturally influences my artistry. I don’t just want to create content — I want to create work that genuinely moves people, makes them feel something real, and leaves a lasting emotional impact.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something people are often surprised by is how comfortable I am outside of comfort zones. Even though my work can look cinematic or glamorous on the surface, some of my strongest memories come from unconventional experiences — traveling independently at a young age, building projects from nothing, taking risks without guarantees, or even living out of a van with my family in Los Angeles while pursuing our creative dreams.

I also grew up around holistic and alternative healing environments, which deeply shaped the way I see people, emotions, and creativity. Spirituality and human connection naturally influence both my personal life and my artistry.

I genuinely love stepping into the unknown, and I think that mix of resilience, adventure, and spirituality is a big part of what makes my perspective and creative work unique.
