Daily Inspiration: Meet Gee LaVonni

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gee LaVonni.

Hi Gee , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve had an entrepreneurial spirit for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was inspired by watching my mother’s creativity and business mindset, and I always knew I wanted to build something of my own one day. I’ve always had a deep passion for all things glam, girly, bold, and a bit extra, so creating Gee LaVonni Glam felt like a natural extension of who I am.

After years in the corporate world, I found myself impacted by a company reorganization shortly after stepping into a new role in travel tech. That experience ultimately pushed me to fully lean into my creativity and build a brand centered around custom bling art, self-expression, and turning everyday items into one-of-a-kind statement pieces people can truly cherish.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road. One of my biggest struggles has been transitioning from over a decade in the corporate world into becoming a full-time creative entrepreneur and navigating the uncertainty that can come with it, both mentally and financially.

Spending so many years in the corporate world, combined with the loss of my mother, eventually made me realize I needed to reconnect with who I was outside of a job title or professional role. There were so many moments of self-doubt, rebuilding, and figuring things out from the ground up, but the experience also taught me to trust myself more, lean more fully into my creativity, and build something that genuinely feels authentic to who I am and brings me joy each day.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create custom hand-rhinestoned and ready-made pieces through my brand, Gee LaVonni Glam. I love taking everyday items and turning them into glamorous statement pieces that feel fun, expressive, and bold. A lot of my work includes fully iced-out statement pieces, custom lettered auto frames, lifestyle and special occasion accessories, event décor, and pieces that bring a little extra personality and happiness into people’s lives.

I’m also preparing to launch a new in-person pop-up creative experience called So Fly Bling, which is essentially a bling-inspired take on the classic paint-and-sip concept, allowing people to create and customize their own rhinestone pieces in fun social settings around the LA area.

I think what really sets my work apart is the level of detail and care I put into each piece. I’m very particular about what I deliver to my customers and create every item with love and precision, almost as if it were my own.

What I’m most proud of is building something that truly reflects who I am as both a person and a creative, while continuing to grow, evolve, and push myself creatively.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I think one of the biggest things is being open to learning from people around you, even in unexpected ways. I’m also very big on self-learning and taught myself how to rhinestone items through a lot of patience, trial and error, and creativity.

Some of the best advice and inspiration I’ve received hasn’t always come from formal mentors on paper. So much can be learned just by observing successful people in your industry and being around people who are genuinely passionate about what they do day to day. Not necessarily to imitate them, but to find inspiration and new ways to approach challenges you may be facing in your own journey.

Networking has worked best for me when it happens organically through real connections and shared interests instead of forcing things or trying to overly market myself in an inauthentic way. I’ve also learned that consistency, staying true to yourself, and continuing to put your work out there can open doors over time. Even when people aren’t clapping yet, they’re still watching, so keep going and always remember that you are your brand!
