Today we’d like to introduce you to Henrikh Abajyan.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Everything started with a big passion and a dream.
At first, I never planned to open a coffee business. I simply wanted to buy a 1 kg roaster to have fun in my garage and roast coffee for myself. After connecting with San Franciscan Roaster founder Bill Kennedy, I got excited and ended up purchasing an SF-6 coffee roaster – and that’s when everything changed.
I realized there is never a perfect time or place to start your dream; you just have to begin.
Later, I attended roasting workshops in Carson City and studied under Mark Michaelson, U.S. Roasting Champion 2017–2018 and Head of Education at San Franciscan Roaster Company. I came back inspired and immediately started testing everything I had learned – exploring roast profiles, improving my craft, and continuing to grow.
That mindset became the foundation of O Coffee. I chose the name because “O” is everything – a circle, a starting point, and a symbol of connection. What started as a small dream has grown into something much bigger: a creative space where coffee meets culture.
From hands-on roasting workshops to jazz nights filled with good vibes, O Coffee has become a place where people gather, connect, and celebrate together. Today, I share my passion and knowledge through coffee roasting workshops and experiences, while continuing to learn and grow myself.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenge is finding what you love, identifying your passion, and turning it into a business.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is happiness – being able to do what you love with people you care about.
