Conversations with Seyitan Adeyemi John

Today we’d like to introduce you to Seyitan Adeyemi John.

Hi Seyitan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I had always loved acting. Funnily, my Dad planted that seed in me as a kid. I was a Couch potato, and he’d say, “you waste your time watching TV everyday, if it’s filmmaking you want to do let’s us know in time” he repeated it long enough to do something within me.
And so, I’d watch movies and wait for end credit to see if someone would attach their number.
One day I saw a number, reached out. He gave me my first shot. However, I soon realized he wasn’t going in the direction I saw myself so I left him and I started attending auditions.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Far from smooth. I’d attend auditions under rain and sun on empty stomach only to realize the production house didn’t actually need Actors, it’s was publicity stunt.

Being underpaid or media houses asking for free acting skills in exchange for “exposure”

Nepotism. Producers outrightly choosing someone they know with lesser skills over you just because you’re not familiar with them.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an Actor, Filmmaker, Content Creator and Wedding Planner.

I’m known for Acting and Filmmaking

I’m proud of my creativity. I don’t take lightly the ability to see something in seed form and create something great out of it.

My tenacity, audacity, diligence and attentiveness to details.

Any big plans?
I recently just founded a media company, FILM FRIENDS NETWORK, with 2 of my friends and so far, we have produced 2 amazing films.
I’m looking forward to creating more masterpieces through our company and importantly opening doors to other young creatives like myself.
