Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Stacy.
Hi Brandon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It started with a Black Sunday CD by Cypress Hill on my 8th birthday. It was a present from my brother who strolled in my room in the middle of the night whispering… “don’t tell anybody I gave you this.” I was hooked from the mystery alone. Then Snoop entered my life… The skits on Doggystyle reminded me of my grandpa and his poker buddies, always clowning. My only true hero ever, was 2pac and that hasn’t changed. Eminem made it possible and is still pushing the bar to this day. Personally, It’s been a long road. A lot of isolated nights, drowning out the negativity, believing in my myself and my art, and not losing site of my mission. Being able to share my experience, the positive feedback, and my creative process of sampling has kept me focused and motivated. We need truth these days and I like to think that’s what I’m sharing, even if it’s my own; lofty & intellectually.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There’s always a struggle, and there’s something inspiring about that. It keeps me humble. If you’re not stirring the pot, you’re probably not speaking your truth.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an artist above all else. I love the creative process and speaking my truth; through song, music, and story telling. It isn’t for the faint of heart. I never let opinions or negativity discourage me or change my trajectory. My intuition is my only compass. My new EP Tragedy will drop this summer…. I put a lot of work into it. I’m doing it solely on my own. No engineers, producers, writers, etc. it’s strictly me, and I’m proud of that. Keep an eye out… I think it will resonate.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was a wild and free kid. Always outside… exploring nature, building tree houses, riding mountain bikes, swimming creeks, rivers, and lakes, and really becoming in tune with the world around me. Being exposed to those things at such an early age really helped me find my direction in the world and who I wanted to be, which was a steward of my environment, and an alley to society. If one can’t speak the truth, I would be happy to speak it for them. And that’s where my creativeness comes into play.
