Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started tufting in 2021, right after the pandemic, as a way to pour my energy into something positive and build a side hustle. I’ve always been creative, and I also work in the cannabis industry, so I wanted to find a way to merge both worlds. That’s really how my brand came to life. My nickname is Dabs and my name is Destiny, so ‘Tufting with Dabs’ just felt natural—it’s a mix of who I am and what I create.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—there’s been a lot of trial and error, but that’s been the biggest part of my growth. I’m always pushing myself to be better than I was the day before, whether that’s through practicing, researching new materials, or learning new techniques. I’m constantly evolving with my craft. I’ve also been lucky enough to have a waitlist since 2021, which I’m incredibly grateful for—it reminds me that all the effort is worth it
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I turn your ideas into rugs you didn’t know were possible—whether it’s your pet, your logo, or something completely original. I also work with cannabis brands to create eye-catching pieces for trade shows, events, and spaces that need to stand out.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is being with my family rollerblading on the beach and letting off fireworks in Mexico 😉
