Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexsia Jones.
Hi Alexsia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my lash journey when I was 19. At the time, I was working a regular job and realized that all I was doing was working, so I wanted something for myself that felt creative and fulfilling. This was in 2022, and even though the beauty industry felt very oversaturated, I decided to stop overthinking it and treat it as a hobby. I invested in a discounted $650 lash course, and that decision ended up changing my life.
At first, I did not love it. It took me a long time, and I honestly did not think it would become something I would do long term. But as I kept practicing, I started noticing real growth in my work and in my confidence. I became determined to get my name out there, so I built my business around my work schedule. I would take clients before my shift, after work, and all throughout my days off. There were times I would take a client at 7 a.m., work my job from 10 to 4, then take more clients in the evening.
What really kept me going was realizing how much I loved the connections I was building with other women. I enjoyed making people feel beautiful, confident, and comfortable. I have always loved serving others, and through lashing I found a way to combine that with creativity and entrepreneurship. My biggest goal has always been to create a safe space where women feel cared for and leave feeling better than when they came in.
As my passion grew, I adjusted my work schedule to make more room for clients and continued pouring into my business every chance I got. What started as something “just for fun” turned into something much bigger. It became a purpose, a business, and a reminder that taking a chance on yourself can completely change your path.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not always been a smooth road. In the beginning, one of my biggest challenges was simply getting started and believing in myself. For the first several months, I was only working on friends and family while building my confidence and improving my skills. I was constantly questioning my retention, my speed, and whether I was good enough to take on paying clients.
Financially, it was also challenging. At 19, I did not have much money, and starting my business required a lot of reinvestment. I spent around $2,000 getting everything I needed, and there were times I had to start over just to continue growing and putting my name out there.
As I grew, the challenges shifted. Being an entrepreneur means you are always “on.” You are not just providing a service you are also managing bookings, responding to clients, creating and editing content, staying on top of trends, and constantly improving your work. It can feel like there is never a true break because you are always thinking about how to grow and stay consistent.
Another challenge is that from the outside, the beauty industry can look glamorous, but people do not always see the amount of time, effort, and money that goes into maintaining a business and building a loyal clientele.
Despite all of that, I truly feel like this path was meant for me. My passion for making people feel confident and creating a safe, comfortable space for my clients is what keeps me going. That purpose has made the difficult moments worth it and has helped me stay consistent through every stage of growth.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a lash artist specializing in volume and wet sets, which are my favorite styles to create. I focus on customizing each set to fit the client’s features and desired look, rather than taking a one size fits all approach.
What I am most proud of is being able to fully support myself through my business since the age of 19. In the beginning, I was unsure if I could rely on one source of income, but I stayed consistent and committed to growing my clientele. Being able to sustain myself and build a stable business from the ground up is something I take a lot of pride in. I also created my own lash Trays & students who have taken a lash course with me get student discounts when they shop any of my products!
What sets me apart is the experience I create for my clients. Even though I am home based, I prioritize professionalism, comfort, and genuine care. I make sure my clients feel welcomed and taken care of by paying attention to the small details, whether that’s offering water, making sure they have access to the restroom, providing a blanket or phone charger, or simply creating a safe and comfortable space where they can relax.
I also focus heavily on consultation and communication. I take the time to understand exactly what each client wants so they leave feeling confident and satisfied. More than anything, I genuinely care about the people I work with. I build real connections with my clients, and I believe people remember how you make them feel just as much as the service itself. That level of care and authenticity is what truly sets my work apart.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is creating a safe, genuine space where people feel comfortable, valued, and confident. I care deeply about how I make others feel, and that comes from how I was raised. My mom showed me what it means to lead with love, compassion, and kindness, and that has shaped the way I move through life and run my business.
I believe in being genuine and caring in everything I do. In a world where people can sometimes feel overlooked or treated like transactions, I make it a priority to see my clients as individuals, not just appointments. I truly care about them as people, and that connection is important to me.
I am also naturally empathetic and curious about people. I’ve even enrolled in psychology courses because I want to better understand human behavior rather than judge it. I believe everyone has a story, and I value taking the time to understand others on a deeper level.
Integrity and humility are also very important to me. I don’t believe that what you have defines who you are. What matters is how you treat people, your character, and the values you stand on. I carry that mindset into both my personal life and my business.
