Today we’d like to introduce you to Drea Renee.
Hi Drea, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hailing from Texas, Drea Renee has always had a presence that couldn’t be ignored. According to her mom, she entered the world “looking for an agent”and in many ways, she never stopped. Raised in an environment that required her to grow up quickly, Drea learned early on how to be resilient, independent, and driven.
She graduated with honors from University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Communications, while also breaking barriers as the first African American female snare drummer in the Longhorn Band.
With little more than ambition and belief in herself, Drea made the move to Los Angeles with nothing lined up. She worked relentlessly, landing hosting opportunities including work with AfterBuzz TV. While she found success, there came a point where the industry began to feel surface-level, and she knew she was craving something deeper.
That shift led her into the poker world, where she spent over a decade building a career that sharpened her ability to connect with people, read energy, and hold space in high-pressure environments.
But beneath it all, there was always a deeper calling.
Eventually, Drea felt pulled to create something more meaningful, something rooted in truth, connection, and the kind of conversations most people avoid. That’s when she launched her relationship-focused podcast, Hey Babe, Can We Talk?, where she explores the realities of modern dating, communication, and emotional patterns.
Today, in addition to her work as a host and sideline reporter ,she is also a certified relationship coach, helping individuals and couples break unhealthy cycles, communicate more effectively, and build relationships rooted in clarity and intention.
Her journey from Texas to Los Angeles, from entertainment to poker, and ultimately into relationship work isn’t just about career evolution. It’s about coming home to what actually matters: real connection, honest conversations, and doing the inner work to create something lasting.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has certainly been challenging. This industry can be unforgiving and demands exceptional resilience. When you hear “no” repeatedly, self-doubt can creep in, and I believe you need a healthy dose of delusion to be a creative these days. You must have unwavering belief that this path was meant for you.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in helping people find themselves again so they can feel more freedom and confidence in the choices they make, especially in their relationships. A lot of the work I do is around breaking patterns, understanding emotional triggers, and learning how to communicate in a way that actually creates connection instead of conflict.
I’m known for my podcast, Hey Babe, Can We Talk?, where I have honest, sometimes uncomfortable conversations about modern dating, emotional patterns, and what it really takes to build something healthy. I also spent over a decade hosting in the poker industry, which taught me how to read people, stay grounded under pressure, and connect with all types of personalities.
What sets me apart is my ability to disarm people and create a space where they feel safe enough to be real. I’m not overly clinical. I bring humor, honesty, and real-life experience into everything I do. I can sit in the depth of something meaningful, but also remind people that they’re allowed to laugh along the way.
What I’m most proud of is the impact. When someone tells me they finally see their patterns clearly, or that they handled a conversation differently because of something they learned—that’s everything to me. Because at the end of the day, this work isn’t about being perfect. It’s about becoming more aware, more honest, and more aligned with who you really are.
Any big plans?
I’m really focused on continuing to build my coaching business and expanding the reach of my podcast, Hey Babe, Can We Talk?. I want to take the conversations I’m already having and bring them to a much bigger audience because I truly believe people are craving more honesty, more depth, and more real tools when it comes to relationships.
I’m also looking forward to growing this work beyond just the podcast through programs, live conversations, and spaces where people can actually apply what they’re learning in real time. The goal is to make this kind of work more accessible and impactful on a larger scale.
At the end of the day, I really love what I do, and I’m excited to keep evolving it and reaching more people, creating more meaningful conversations, and continuing to grow right alongside the work itself.
