Conversations with B Hale

Today we’d like to introduce you to B Hale.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Before moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting, I was a preschool teacher, a life insurance sales person, a butcher, a baker, a candlestick maker. Since taking the leap, I’ve had the opportunity to dive headlong into acting. I’m currently working on my 7th micro drama series and just wrapped the lead role on incredible feature. I’m also beginning my quest into writing and producing a series. Along the way I’ve worked with some of the most incredibly talented people in Hollywood and each collaboration has left me with more insight into the industry as well as expanded my view of where I can fit my uniqueness into it.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Growing in a forest filled with strong and established trees as a sapling has come with struggles, but, ultimately and undoubtedly, with blessings I could not have known to ask for. When people say rejection is FOR you, they are wise. I’ve learned that my job is to show up with my unique story and plenty of blank pages to fill. What has held me and rooted me is the connection to people who’s presence and experience holds up a mirror to my own and allows me to see myself clearly whether in the shadows or the brighter sunlight.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As an actress I specialize in connecting to experiences and perspectives and translating those to screen whether they be directly from my own life or from those of the people I am lucky to love. Additionally, I’ve been expanding my physical capabilities especially when it comes to stunt work. There’s something so powerful about learning to use your body as a tool and developing a deep appreciation of this vessel as I develop more control over it. It’s a skill I’ve been able to explore most recently in my role as Sage in the upcoming feature One Wicked Night directed by the award winning Jerry Macaluso and probably the work I’m most proud of to date. Apart from the work on screen itself, I was able to recognize that what sets me apart from others is my desire to successfully collaborate on bringing a vision to life. I am so lucky to have so many perspectives to inspire and move each story forward so that it’s whole.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
With the explosion of popularity in micro dramas or verticals, the industry is widening in mediums which gives opportunities to tell stories to any audience. I imagine even more expansion with the addition of hybrid dramas and comedies that don’t just meet the audience, but invite them into the world created in each project. It’s a very exciting time to be in Hollywood.
