Hi Kasey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
POETRY DANS LA RUE started as an indie music blog and media outlet in 2019. The passion project ignited from many years of concert going, record collecting, and growing up surrounded by music. With dreams of entering the music industry while teaching French for several years, PDLR began to add more hats to our repertoire by interviewing indie artists, curating playlists, offering advice, and expanding our social media network. In 2024, we launched PR artist services, including personalized EPKs and release campaigns for growing musicians, also often booking shows, pitching to sync, and offering consulting advice. Today PDLR works with an exclusive artist roster of women and LGBTQ+ artists, looking to grow and continue building our brand. Most of our artists are releasing larger projects, playing shows, and developing a loyal fanbase.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Working in the music industry comes with daily struggles that can range from creative burnout, social media burnout, lack of financial assistance and funding, sharing in challenges and struggles with artists as they manage the demands of releasing music in 2026. This industry requires a lot of connections and support from the indie music community; it can be isolating at times on both the artist and business side.

POETRY DANS LA RUE is a woman-owned and fan-led indie music PR company based in Raleigh, NC. We work with artists all over the globe, who speak both French and English. Our artists are loyal, passionate, and devoted songwriters, often focusing on emotional-resonance and intimate storytelling. We work with artists within the genres of indie pop, indie rock, dream pop, alt, pop punk, R&B, soul, folk, and more!

We specialize in building one-on-one relationships with our artists, often working with them over the span of a few years, from single releases to EPs and albums. We curate customized EPKs and Press Releases to match each artist’s brand and release. Included in our release campaign curations is also a contact list that reflects their niche, genre, target audience, etc. We have booked shows in NY, NJ, PA, NC, London, France, Germany, and Canada. We partner with US, UK, Canadian, French, and South American media outlets. Recently, we’ve pitched and secured a sync placement for one of our artists with the new Netflix hit series, Vladimir. Our artist roster includes musicians from New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Canada, France, and the UK.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Some of our favorite apps and networks are Canva, LinkedIn, BAK Playground, Instagram, TikTok, Groover, and SubmitHub. Since our work is remote and mostly based online, it’s important to build connections through outlets like LinkedIn, BAK (network of music artists and music industry professionals), Instagram, and submission platforms.

We love music-inspired stories like Daisy Jones & The Six, The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto, and of course, Almost Famous. As for professional help books, The 2-Hour Job Search helped me narrow down ways to make the switch from Education to the Music Industry. I found a lot of the information about using LinkedIn and conducting informational interviews very insightful, and can say the method inspired me to take risks outside of my comfort zone.
