Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Degas.
Hi Sabrina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my career before I knew it was a career. I went to an art high school in Chicago, majoring in Media Arts: Video, then studied Film Directing and got my BFA at SVA in NYC. By sophomore year, I was working 40+ hours a week at a post-production studio, and before I graduated, I had a job at The Weinstein Company (a whole story for the memoir).
I eventually moved to LA with no prospects and landed a graphics & video producer role at Pop TV right as digital media was exploding. That led to agency work producing marketing content across a ton of industries, which became the foundation for everything after. Those content and event skills let me jump industries fluidly.
When COVID hit, and IRL events stopped, I started seeing friends make real money from their art through NFTs for the first time. I applied to OpenSea, and they made a role for me as Consumer Marketing, Events Lead, and Creator Strategist during the explosion of the NFT market — a moment when digital ownership and creator economies were being reimagined in real time.
After OpenSea, I freelanced, then took on the role of Director of Creative & Marketing at DataHaven. In January 2026, I formalized everything as Sabs’ Labs — a creative design, branding, AI strategy & business consulting agency for founders, brands, and creators across any industry.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not — and I wouldn’t want it to be. Most of my career has been in industries either misunderstood, underestimated, or in the middle of reinventing themselves: cannabis finding its legs, web3 through massive cycles, entertainment shifting around streaming, and now AI.
The hardest part is pivoting when a company doesn’t work out — sometimes it’s not the right fit, sometimes the market isn’t ready. When that happens, I take a few days to feel it, touch grass, get honest with myself about my goals, and start executing the next thing. Imposter syndrome has shown up more times than I can count, but I’ve learned that prioritizing yourself is what makes you better for everyone else. Health is wealth.
The biggest thing I had to learn the hard way: no one is critiquing your moves but you. Get out of your own head, make what you believe in, and your taste will carry you to the audience that matters.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Sabs Labs?
Sabs’ Labs is a creative design, branding, AI strategy & business consulting agency for founders, brands, and creators who want to build something culturally relevant — not just commercially viable. I’m industry-agnostic by design. I’ve worked across tech, web3, cannabis, entertainment, CPG, hospitality, travel, and beyond. The through-line is always the same: how do you make something people genuinely care about, and how do you build a community that actually sticks?
I specialize in branding, go-to-market launches, event activations, community growth, creative strategy, and AI optimization. What I love most is helping brands and creators grow authentically. A huge part of that now is helping them integrate AI into their workflow so they can spend more time on what they actually love and do best. The best creative work comes from people operating in their zone of genius, while having AI do the admin or “boring” work so that the creators and founders get more of their creative time back.
What sets Sabs’ Labs apart is my range of experience. I’ve been a creative director, marketing lead, event producer, and brand strategist — often at the same time — so I see how all the pieces of a brand connect. I’m not a vendor handing off a deck. I work like an embedded partner.
What I’m most proud of is work that didn’t just hit numbers but actually moved culture — the Budtender Awards giving real recognition to people that the industry had overlooked, and the OpenSea chapter of helping creators navigate a brand-new economy.
If you’re building something ambitious and want a partner who can handle the creative, strategic, and operational pieces simultaneously, that’s who Sabs’ Labs is for.
What makes you happy?
Building things with people I respect and am inspired by.
Long walks with my dog Oona.
Traveling the world with my fiancé. Any moment when I’m in Japan is heaven.
Cooking and exploring new restaurants.
But more than anything, I’m happiest in a season of growth, learning something new, and building something that didn’t exist before, surrounded by people who push me.
