Check Out Kimberly/Travis (Calenrose) Dooley/Magee’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly/Travis (Calenrose) Dooley/Magee.

Hi Kimberly/Travis (Calenrose), so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Travis and I met as professional dancers in New York City, and over the course of several years, we transitioned from dance into photography.
During our time in dance, Kim performed with artists like Beyoncé and Snoop Dogg and spent years at The Box NYC. Travis trained at the Boston Conservatory and the Alvin Ailey School, later performing throughout Europe with the Lucinda Childs Dance Company and with The Metropolitan Opera.
Travis began by photographing dance and portrait work before a friend asked him to shoot a masquerade birthday party. That job led to more events, and eventually to what has now been over a decade of photographing celebrations.
Today, we focus primarily on weddings and events, working across the U.S. and internationally.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Freelance work is never smooth—you have to be comfortable with the ebbs and flows of income. Transitioning from dance to photography, we already had a strong tolerance for uncertainty.
It wasn’t until after the pandemic, when we shifted to focusing primarily on events, that things became more predictable. There’s a lot of room for growth in this space, and it’s some of the most fun, high-energy work we’ve done.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We’re a photography duo specializing in weddings and events across the U.S. and internationally. Our work focuses on capturing celebrations as they unfold—unfiltered, dynamic, and rooted in real moments—while still holding a strong editorial point of view.
We’re known for blending documentary and fashion-forward imagery in a way that feels natural. Our background in dance shapes how we approach a wedding day: we’re constantly reading timing, movement, and energy, and knowing when to step in versus when to disappear. We’re especially drawn to clients who aren’t afraid to make a scene—as long as it’s for joy, not performance.
What we’re most proud of is the trust our clients place in us. The best work comes from people who are fully themselves and allow the day to unfold without over-directing it.
What sets us apart is that balance—creating intentional, elevated images without losing the honesty of what’s actually happening.

What does success mean to you?
Success is loving the work we’re making and the life it supports—travel, new experiences, and a lot of very good parties.
