Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Wooters.
Madison, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Wooters Design Co. didn’t come out of nowhere—it’s the result of a lifetime around creativity, combined with a fast-paced start in agency life and the decision to build something more intentional for myself.
I grew up in a deeply creative home. My dad founded a graphic design studio, and my mom is a fine artist and former art teacher, so from an early age, I saw that a creative career wasn’t just possible—it could be meaningful and fulfilling. The overlap between art and design always felt natural to me, and I think that perspective still shapes how I approach my work today.
I went on to study graphic design at Auburn University and then started my career at a branding agency. Those early years were incredibly formative. It was fast-paced, high-pressure, and I was exposed to a wide range of industries and projects, which helped me quickly understand my strengths and what kind of work I was most drawn to. I learned from incredibly talented designers, and it gave me the foundation—and confidence—I needed to eventually build something of my own.
After a few years at the design agency, I found myself close to burnout and craving a different pace and way of working. During COVID, I decided to take the-what at the time felt like a big and scary leap-and create a business that felt more aligned with the kind of life I wanted—one with more space, more intention, and more meaningful work with a more hands on approach where I could really get to know the founders-often females of small businesses-to partner with and tell their story through branding. That’s really how Wooters Design Co. began.
In the beginning, I was scrappy—taking on a wide range of clients and projects as I figured things out. Over time, the studio has evolved into something much more focused and intentional. Now, almost six years in, we’ve refined our niche and primarily partner with female-owned brands in hospitality, food and beverage, fashion, beauty, wellness and lifestyle. It’s incredibly rewarding to be working with the kinds of clients I once only dreamed of collaborating with—and to be building brands that feel both purposeful and lasting.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not! Like most creative businesses, there have been a lot of seasons of growth, uncertainty, and figuring things out as I go.
As a creative, it’s easy to focus on the design side of things because that’s what comes naturally and what I love most. But running a studio means wearing so many hats beyond that. Learning how to market myself, confidently price my work, communicate my value, set boundaries, create systems, grow my team by hiring trusted and aligned creatives, and fully step into the role of business owner took time—and a lot of purposeful growth. Even learning what to hold onto versus what to outsource, and trusting that process, was a shift.
Another challenge has been learning to trust my instincts. In the earlier years, it was easy to second-guess decisions or feel pressure to follow what others in the industry were doing. Over time, I’ve realized that the most defining parts of Wooters Design Co.—our collaborative, in-depth process, our slower and more intentional pace, and our focus on emotion and timelessness over trends—came from trusting what felt right, not what was expected. That approach has ultimately led to stronger, more distinctive work for our clients.
We take the time to really get to know each business through workshops and conversations, building a strategic foundation before moving into design and refining together along the way. That level of depth and collaboration wasn’t something I saw everywhere early on, but it’s become one of the most important parts of how we work-and the only way we are willing to work.
I’ve also learned that growth often requires letting go of what no longer fits. Whether that’s refining the types of clients we work with, the types of projects, evolving our processes, or raising our standards with every project, each season has required a different version of leadership, and every project is better than the last.
I’m also in a very full season of life as a new mom, which has brought its own challenges in balancing business ownership with motherhood. It’s stretched me in the best ways and pushed me to become even more intentional with my time, energy, and how I run the studio.
Looking back, I’m really grateful it hasn’t always been easy. The challenges have shaped the studio into what it is today and have made me a more thoughtful designer, a stronger business owner, and a more grounded creative.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Wooters Design Co. is a boutique, woman-owned studio partnering with purposeful brands in hospitality, beauty, wellness, lifestyle, food, and beverage. We specialize in full-scope branding, websites, and packaging, with a focus on timeless, typography-led design—every project built with intention and designed to last.
At the core of our work is a simple question: what do you want people to feel? That’s where everything begins. We’re a feelings-first studio, translating something intangible—an emotion, a vision, an energy—into a visual identity that feels clear, cohesive, and deeply aligned. Our goal is to take what’s felt and make it seen.
Our process is just as important as the end result. We take a hands-on, collaborative approach that’s personal and warm—working together often feels like building a genuine creative friendship, and many of our clients naturally become just that. We take the time to truly understand each client, building from the ground up so nothing feels surface-level or rushed.
We’re thoughtful about who we work with. Our clients are founders who value strategy, soulful design, and meaningful connection—those doing something different in their industry and looking for a partner to help bring that to life visually. That shared alignment in values, aesthetics, and vision creates a natural creative rhythm, making the process both inspiring and intuitive.
We’re known for striking a balance of simplicity and soul—work that feels refined, yet warm and full of character.
We don’t just design how something looks—we shape how it’s experienced. Every project is fully custom, with careful attention to detail from the strategic foundation down to the smallest typographic decisions. The goal is to create work that feels distinct, meaningful, and built to stand the test of time. We don’t design for trends or quick turnarounds—we design for longevity.
What I’m most proud of is the level of care that goes into every project and the relationships built along the way. Our clients are incredibly successful, and getting to play even a small role in their growth is the most fulfilling part of what I do. Much of our work comes through word of mouth, which always feels like the greatest compliment—it means the experience resonated just as much as the end result.
