Check Out Michaelangelo Cruz’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michaelangelo Cruz.

Hi Michaelangelo, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m a Valley-born native, but my story didn’t follow the typical path. Growing up in the foster care system meant moving around constantly, learning early how to adapt, stay resilient, and make the most out of every situation. I spent my teenage years bouncing between Los Angeles, Los Feliz, Hollywood, and Downtown before eventually finding my way back to the Valley, this place will always feel like home.
Those experiences shaped the way I see people, opportunity, and success. I’ve always respected my roots because I know what it feels like to start with very little, to have to outwork circumstances, and to build something from the ground up. That perspective is what drives me today and why I’ve always had a soft spot for the underdog.
People love to quote, “A jack of all trades is a master of none,” usually as criticism. But they leave out the best part: “…but oftentimes better than a master of one.” That mindset perfectly reflects my approach to real estate.
Since the 2008 housing crash, I’ve built my career in the trenches of real estate, navigating short sales, REOs, flips, multi-unit and commercial deals through every kind of market imaginable. From crash markets to bidding wars, I learned how to adapt, negotiate, and win when the stakes are high.
Over the years, I’ve trained dozens of agents and become a trusted resource for guidance, strategy, and leadership among other top real estate professionals. Having been involved in more than 1,000 transactions, I’ve gained experience that goes far beyond contracts and negotiations. Every deal, every challenge, and every client interaction reinforced one thing: real estate is ultimately a relationship business. Markets shift, trends change, and strategies evolve, but trust, communication, and genuinely showing up for people will always matter most.
Today, about 90% of my business comes from referrals and word of mouth, which means more to me than any award or title ever could. It tells me people remember how I made them feel, how hard I fought for them, and that they trust me enough to send their friends and family my way.
Coming from where I came from, success was never something handed to me. I had to build it brick by brick. That’s why I’m passionate about helping others create stability, ownership, and generational wealth through real estate and smart investments.
At the end of the day, this business has never just been about houses to me. It’s about people, purpose, progress, and making sure no matter where someone starts, they know more is possible.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Constantly moving, adapting to new environments, and learning early on how to rely on myself, shaped a lot of who I am today, but it also came with challenges most people don’t see. Professionally, I entered real estate during one of the toughest times imaginable, right after the 2008 housing crash. The market was uncertain, deals were difficult, and trust had to be earned the hard way. There were plenty of setbacks, long nights, and moments where quitting would’ve been easier. But every obstacle taught me resilience, sharpened my work ethic, and reinforced my belief that no matter where you start, you can build something meaningful if you stay consistent and keep pushing forward.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I help people buy, sell, and invest in real estate, but what I’m most passionate about is helping first-time homebuyers realize that homeownership is actually possible for them. There’s nothing better than watching someone go from thinking they’re years away from owning a home to finally getting the keys to a place they can call their own. A lot of my business also comes from working with investors, helping them analyze deals, calculate returns, identify opportunities, and build long-term wealth through smart real estate decisions.

What sets me apart is that I’m able to bridge both worlds. Whether I’m helping a first-time buyer navigate one of the biggest decisions of their life or helping an investor make strategic financial moves, both require the same thing: patience, market knowledge, strong negotiation skills, and most importantly, trust. I pride myself on being someone clients can rely on not just for the transaction itself, but for honest guidance, education, and a strategy built around their long-term goals.

What I’m most proud of is the relationships I’ve built along the way. Most of my business comes from referrals and repeat clients, which tells me people trust me enough to send their friends, family, and business partners my way, and to me, that means more than any sales number ever could.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The best way to work with me is simple, make the connection. Whether you’re buying your first home, looking to sell, investing, or just trying to understand your options, I’m always happy to be a resource. A big part of my business is built on relationships and referrals, so if you or someone you know needs someone in their corner they can trust to help navigate the real estate market, I’d love the opportunity to help.
