Check Out Layla Z’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Layla Z.

Hi Layla, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Layla Z, I am a mother of two, and an independent rock musician. My sound is described as more “in your face,” and definitely raw. I produce my music through Bandlab, I write and sing every song of mine. I absolutely love writing, and use it as a tool to navigate my emotions. I produced my own album called “So Deep,” through Bandlab. In May, I am filming a music video to a song of mine called “Filthy Dirt,” that is featured on my album. I started off writing, all my life I’ve written. I’ve published three books, and decided to recently enter the music industry full force.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, some bumps along the way. Earlier on in my musical journey, I made a music video called HellRaiser that was written and recorded at The Loft studios in Yonkers, New York. I took a break, and started a family. I’ve taken my breaks but have always returned to one of my true loves, which is music.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in making independent rock music. I think I am known for my raw approach to music. I do not add filters to my songs, or over produce. I think that’s what sets me apart. I love all types of music, but the auto tune is so insane nowadays. I try to go the opposite approach.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was always creative. I had a fond love for music at such a young age. I was raised around my mother’s eighties rock bands and Elvis. My personality was shy younger years, I always have considered myself a different kind of person. I love my alone time. I am an only child, so that may be the reason why. I also was really good at school and drawing. During the younger years, I listened to so many metal and grunge bands. I believe this is what shaped my sound and made me the artist I am today.
