Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Akane Millan of Los Angeles

We recently had the chance to connect with Akane Millan and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Akane, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Movement and nature always do it for me—long hikes, slow yoga flows, or getting lost creating content that actually feels real. And then there’s the opposite: cozy nights in with a good movie and sushi. Somewhere between moving my body and fully resting, time disappears and I feel most like myself.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a model and content creator who loves yoga, staying active, and chasing new experiences—whether that’s trying new foods, exploring new cultures, or doing things for the first time. I’m all about living fully, finding little joys, and sharing the kind of fun, real moments that light me up—on a hike, at a picnic, or cozied up with sushi and a movie.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Bonds break when people stop showing up or really listening. They’re restored in the little moments—laughing together, trying new things, or just being fully present.

When did you last change your mind about something important?
I recently realized it’s okay not to have all the answers. Letting myself be curious and open—even when I don’t know—has actually led to some of my best discoveries.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire Alan Watts—not for power, but for his way of seeing life. His ideas about presence, letting go, and going with the flow really resonate with me and influence how I approach everything from creativity to everyday moments.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I’d stop holding back and start saying yes—to risks, new adventures, and all the things that scare me a little.
