Conversations with Jesus Valdez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesus Valdez.

Hi Jesus, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started NexAer Rentals after seeing a real gap in the market for fast, reliable portable cooling solutions. Working in facilities and HVAC, I saw firsthand how often businesses struggle when their systems go down, especially during peak heat, and how slow or expensive the available options can be.

I decided to build something more responsive and customer-focused. I started small, investing in a few units and handling everything myself—from deliveries and installations to marketing, customer communication, and operations. Being hands-on has allowed me to understand every part of the business and ensure a high level of service.

My goal with NexAer is to grow it into a trusted and go-to solution for temporary cooling, whether it’s for emergencies, events, or commercial needs. I’m focused on building strong relationships, providing reliable service, and scaling the business in a smart and sustainable way.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been starting and growing the business while managing financial risk. Investing in equipment, marketing, and operations without guaranteed demand requires careful decision-making and discipline.

Another challenge has been generating consistent leads. Early on, I realized that having a great service isn’t enough—you have to actively market, build relationships, and stay visible. There have been slow periods, even during hot weather, which pushed me to adjust my strategy, invest in advertising, and focus more on outreach.

Balancing time has also been a challenge. Since I manage NexAer while working full-time, I’ve had to stay organized and efficient, handling deliveries, customer service, and business operations outside of regular work hours.

These challenges have forced me to become more adaptable, improve my decision-making, and stay consistent even when results aren’t immediate. They’ve helped me build a stronger foundation for long-term growth.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in HVAC systems, facilities operations, and hands-on problem solving, with a strong focus on delivering reliable and efficient solutions. Through my professional experience, I’ve developed the ability to manage building operations, preventive maintenance programs, vendor coordination, and capital projects, while maintaining high standards for safety and performance.

What sets me apart is that I combine technical expertise with a business mindset. I don’t just understand how systems work—I understand how to operate, manage, and grow a service. With NexAer Rentals, I’ve taken a hands-on approach to building the business from the ground up, handling everything from equipment selection and installations to customer service, logistics, and marketing.

I’m known for being dependable, responsive, and solution-oriented, especially in time-sensitive situations where customers need immediate support. I take pride in being someone who can step in, figure things out quickly, and deliver results.

What I’m most proud of is building NexAer while working full-time, and creating a service that is focused on reliability, fast response, and customer trust. That combination of real-world technical experience and entrepreneurship is what I believe truly sets me apart.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I see increasing demand for temporary and supplemental cooling solutions. With rising temperatures, aging HVAC infrastructure, and more frequent system failures, businesses will need fast and reliable alternatives to maintain operations.

I also see a shift toward speed and flexibility. Customers are no longer willing to wait days for solutions—they expect quick response times, simple processes, and dependable service. This creates an opportunity for companies that can move fast and provide a high level of customer support.

Another trend is cost efficiency. Instead of investing heavily in permanent systems or emergency repairs, many businesses will look for temporary rental solutions as a practical and scalable option.

Overall, the industry is moving toward more on-demand, service-driven solutions, and I believe companies that focus on responsiveness, reliability, and strong customer relationships will stand out the most.
