MiMo, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
If we’re being really honest…the idea of MiMo Marketing started after a chaotic day at our full-time jobs. We were fixing mistakes made by leadership- something we warned them would happen- and we sat there thinking about how much cleaner it would have been if we were given the reigns. That thought turned into something bigger (and probably a little spicy), but the only thing that kept turning over in our heads was: “If a mediocre man can run a multi-million dollar business, why can’t we?” Especially when we were the ones holding the team together.

It was a little delusional, we know. But it forced us to think differently and remove ourselves from the box women are often placed in.

And that’s where MiMo began.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a business is fun in the same way learning to swim is fun. Sometimes you’re floating. Sometimes you’re doggy paddling to the finish line.

Marketing came naturally to us. The logistics did not.

Things like tax filings, payroll, and accounting were very pieced together in year one. I’d love to say it wasn’t messy, but it was a little bit. There were many moments where we were learning in real time simply because we didn’t know it was something we needed yet.

But if there’s one thing we’re good at, it’s finding a solution and figuring it out. We trust ourselves to learn quickly and, like I said, are probably a little delusional (in the best way, of course). We have the “I can do that” mindset that makes things feel possible, even when we’ve never done them before. And that pays off more often than you’d think.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We’re Mindful Momentum Marketing, or MiMo for short. MiMo is a Latina-led marketing agency built on intention and alignment. We didn’t start this company to take checks and call it a day. We started it to build real momentum without compromising our ideas or our values.
