Inspiring Conversations with Jenifer Gutierrez of Rest Assured Special Event Sitters, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenifer Gutierrez.

Hi Jenifer, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been invested in bridging the gaps between our communities and education. As an educator myself and a product of my community, investing in Rest Assured Special Event Sitters was a no brainer for me. I want to thank my former mentor and good friend Andrea Cova who is the founder of Rest Assured Special Event Sitters. She began this business in 2017 and I was once a child care provider for the business. When the pandemic hit in 2020, Andrea and her Business partner decided they wanted to part ways with the business and sell. This is when I decided to jump at the opportunity and buy the business.

I am self taught and still learning about running a business, however, it has been such JOY continuing to grow the business to where it is now. We provide child care for all special events such conferences, community organizations, seminars, professional development, weddings, and more. We have had the opportunity to partner with Habitat for Humanity, CAUSE (Central Coast Alliance United for a Sustainable Economy) and Grassroots Asians Rising, to name a few. Providing child care gives people in our community the opportunity to learn and get educated in what these organizations have to offer. Additionally, providing child care for weddings, birthday gatherings, or even for date nights; this provides a sense of relief and assurance that parents can have some fun while their children are near by with professional child care providers.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would not say it has been a struggle because Andrea did a great job setting the foundation of the business. It has been a learning curve as my background is not in business, however, as the saying goes, “Where there is a Will, there is a Way”. If I don’t know it, I learn it, I perfect it and I execute it; Very much Boss mentality and I love that about myself. This is what continues to motivate me to keep growing the business.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Rest Assured Special Event Sitters, LLC?
Rest Assured Special Event Sitters: We provide child care for special events such as weddings, community organization, seminars/professional developments, conferences, etc. We create a children section at the given venue/location and bring all the entertainment such as age appropriate board games, coloring books, arts and crafts, interactive games, etc. All of our child care staff is CPR and First Aide trained, are educators and/or work in the education field, have 10 plus years of child care experience, are background checked and we are fully insured. We provide services all of over Southern California and hope to branch out to North California in the future.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Everywhere you go is a networking opportunity. I do consider myself a social butterfly, therefore anywhere I go I talk about the business. I am also looking forward to business and entrepreneurship gatherings to meet like minded people to continue to network and expand the business.
