Meet Cookie Zombie of Redondo Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cookie Zombie.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Cookie Zombie is back from the dead! In 2013, what started as baking cookies for friends and family in the evenings, quickly expanded to baking and delivering to the South Bay (El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, North Redondo) and the Westside (LMU, Playa Del Rey, Westchester, Playa Vista). We ran our own delivery crew (third party delivery apps didn’t even exist!) and took orders from our website or over phone.

In 2016, we won Best Homemade Cookie at LA Cookie Con and voted Best Gourmet Dessert at Loyola Marymount University. By the end of 2018, we couldn’t keep up with demand and temporarily closed while we tried to find the right location for our first storefront. It wasn’t until 2025 that we found our current home in North Redondo. We still offer delivery but now you can come by and order from us in person and pick out some merch.

We’re so excited to be back from the dead and even more excited to re-unite with our old customers and meet new ones. We’re the original freshly baked cookie delivery born and raised in the South Bay! YeeEEewwwWWw!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We might have been the first ghost kitchen back in 2013 and explaining that to customers took some time. Also delivering without an app/map tracker before people were okay with leaving food at the door was always a challenge, especially at night. But it was also fun to drive around the city late at night, delivering freshly baked cookies.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We make all of our cookie dough in-house with our own recipes. We have over 100 cookie recipes and try out new ones all the time. Everyone has a favorite cookie so we try to rotate through them often. We’ve expanded our menu to include Super Milks (also original recipes that you can find at Cookie Zombie), Cold Brew Coffee and other fun menu items. But the baked to order cookies is what everyone comes back for. You just can’t do better than cookie fresh from the oven!

How do you define success?
Success is box of warm cookies and milk after a day.
