Today we’d like to introduce you to Deidre Gavin.
Hi Deidre, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
During my preteen years, I struggled with hormonal acne. I remember how deeply it affected my confidence and how I saw myself. What I didn’t realize at the time was that this challenge would become my introduction to the world of skincare.
I never intended to become an esthetician. My first love was acting, and I was pursuing a career in entertainment. But like many people dealing with acne, I was always searching for a cure and for the healthy, radiant skin I longed for. Facials helped my skin improve, but I never quite reached the flawless results I desired. That curiosity pushed me to want to understand more.
I decided to attend esthetician school with the intention of opening my own skincare business while continuing my career in entertainment. My plan was to build the brand and hire providers to perform the services while I remained behind the scenes.
In 2012, after becoming a new mother to my second son, I began formulating Naturally Bare body care products. Opening my first location in West Hollywood, California, I discovered how much I truly loved formulating and studying ingredients. My curiosity deepened as I began to understand the nuances of multicultural skin and how treatments must be customized for different skin types and concerns.
Over time, my passions merged—my background in performance, my growing interest in medicine, and my dedication to nutrition and holistic wellness. Eventually, I stepped fully into the role of lead esthetician, leaving entertainment behind to focus on building my brand.
Seventeen years later, Naturally Bare continues to focus on customized treatments designed for each individual client. Our philosophy is simple: true skin health comes from addressing the overall wellness of the skin and the person behind it.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The business side of the industry has been one of the most challenging parts of my journey. When I began formulating Naturally Bare body care, I was also caring for a newborn baby. There were moments when I truly felt like I couldn’t do both. Balancing motherhood while building a brand from the ground up was overwhelming at times, and there were days when I thought about giving up.
At one point, I stepped away from the treatment room to focus on formulation. Naturally Bare body care was starting to gain recognition within the industry, but the pressure of motherhood and building the brand began to take a toll. Eventually, I returned to the treatment room because working directly with clients is what originally inspired my love for skin care.
During that time, I was renting a treatment room, which came with its own set of challenges. I knew I needed a space of my own, but finding the right location felt nearly impossible. I remember one day pulling over on the side of the road and praying for guidance and the right place to open my spa.
Later that same day, I stopped to get lunch, and when I parked my car, I noticed a “For Lease” sign. The space was located right behind the restaurant. Something about it felt right. What followed was a long process—it took over five months to negotiate the deal. Just when everything was finally coming together, the COVID pandemic happened. I was forced to close before I had even fully opened.
But through every challenge, I kept going. I never gave up. That perseverance is part of the foundation of Naturally Bare today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a skincare therapist and formulator for Naturally Bare Skincare. My specialty is treating the skin as a whole rather than focusing on a single condition or symptom. I believe the health of the skin reflects what is happening inside the body, so my approach integrates multiple layers of care.
In addition to advanced facial treatments, I offer guidance in areas such as nutrition support, lymphatic stimulation, and client education. My goal is to give clients the tools and knowledge they need to understand their skin and maintain long-term results.
I am also a skincare educator and have taught master classes around the world, sharing my knowledge of ingredients, treatment protocols, and customized skincare techniques with other professionals.
What truly sets my work apart is that every client is treated as an individual. No two treatments are exactly the same. Each service is carefully customized based on the client’s skin condition, lifestyle, and overall wellness.
At Naturally Bare, every product we carry or formulate is selected because there is a genuine need for it in treatment—not because it is trending or popular. Our guests are supported throughout their skincare journey with the goal of helping them achieve the healthiest skin possible.
While my work focuses on the skin, our conversations often extend beyond the face. We discuss topics such as gut health, stress, mental wellness, and diet because these factors often influence the condition of the skin. Although I am not a physician, I have studied extensively in these areas and provide guidance that helps clients better understand the connection between their internal health and their skin.
What matters most to you? Why?
That I am healthy, happy and fulfilled in my life exactly where I am. That my peace transcends to my children. That my family is well and prosperous.
That I share my gifts with others and leave no stone unturned. That I explore the World and never be stagnant.
That my clients are educated! That their skin is healthy and they are educated in regard to taking care of it whether they’re with me or not. Doesn’t mean it is flawless but overall- healthy!
That my brand expands and thrives as a renown brand World wide. That starts in my community.
That my relationship with the creator becomes the light that ignites the room whenever I go. That I stop playing small and expand my vessel.
That I am confident as I continue to educate and grow my business.
