Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Menghini.
Hi Jack, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my journey in 2016 within sports by creating highlight edits and graphics of NFL players on my phone, initially just for fun. After taking Photoshop classes in middle and high school, I launched an Instagram account to showcase my designs. As a student-athlete playing soccer, I spent my free time building this creative outlet.
What started as a passion project quickly gained traction, the account grew to over 4,000 followers, with several NFL players engaging with and liking my posts. I leveraged that momentum, along with my deep sports knowledge, to secure my first internship at a sports agency.
From there, everything accelerated. I’ve since had the opportunity to work at two sports agencies, a digital agency, Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Legendary Entertainment, Code by Gentry, USC Football, BMO Stadium, and I currently work at Fox Sports.
Lastly, I’m set to graduate this May with a Master of Science in Digital Media from University of Southern California. I also earned my Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Loyola Marymount University, where I built a strong foundation in brand strategy, consumer behavior, and business fundamentals.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road.
While my journey started with momentum, growing my Instagram and getting engagement from NFL players, turning that into real opportunities wasn’t automatic. One of the biggest challenges was being taken seriously. I was young and coming from social media, so I had to prove I understood branding, strategy, and the business side of sports.
Balancing school, soccer, and building my creative work was also tough. There were moments of burnout and doubt, especially when opportunities didn’t immediately lead to the next step.
Even after landing my first internship, nothing was guaranteed. Every role required me to adapt quickly and prove myself again. Those challenges ultimately built my resilience and helped me grow into the professional I am today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I currently work at Fox Sports on the Digital Sales Integrations team. Our group operates as the bridge between Sales and Design, focusing on digital sponsorships and branded content execution. I work cross-functionally across multiple departments, helping translate partnership needs into strong creative assets and often stepping beyond my defined role to support design and execution where needed.
Through my previous internships and experiences, I’ve built a wide range of practical industry knowledge that allows me to contribute strategically, not just tactically. I take pride in my work ethic and in my ability to identify opportunities others may overlook, whether that’s improving a process, elevating a creative concept, or adding value beyond the initial scope of a project.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to develop an appetite for rejection. In this industry, you’re going to hear “no” far more than you hear “yes.” Early on, I realized that rejection isn’t personal…it’s part of the process. Every missed opportunity, unanswered email, or closed door is just redirection. The key is to keep going, stay confident, and not let setbacks define you.
I’ve also learned the importance of adaptability. You never know where life will take you or which opportunity will change your path. Being open, flexible, and willing to step outside your comfort zone has allowed me to grow and take advantage of opportunities I didn’t originally plan for.
