Rising Stars: Meet Brittney Williams of Los Angeles/Pasadena

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Williams.

Brittney Williams

Hi Brittney, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am someone that’s always loved music, films, and art (since childhood). I also deal with a lot illnesses including Migraines and severe Asthma. So I needed something to do that was easy on my health but fulfilling at the same, allowing me to be independent, and celebrate my love of music and films. My blog came to me out of that. My blog name though felt intuitive and right, after I had tried using other pseudonyms and stuff. It all clicked, at first I guess I was a bit “reclusive”. That has long since changed and now it’s an ironic joke.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t, but that’s life. I hear a lot no’s or wait your turn. So I consider my path a winding road. My family has a saying that when one door closes another one opens. So, I tend to always look at things as a good learning lesson. Especially when in my career much of it is based on credentials and connections, or who you know. And, I didn’t know anyone for years, and couldn’t get into anything. So I just wrote about what I knew and the music I was listening to. The best thing was I just kept writing and applying to concerts until I caught a break with an indie band I shot at The Peppermint Club. From there was I continued to photographed concerts exclusively. Now I’m doing red carpets and other events which is a huge goal of mine accomplished. Yet, I still have challenges I don’t think you’ll ever grow without challenges or adversities. I think one of my biggest today is to make sure I always grow and learn something new, and to never rest on my laurels, and fight hard when writer’s block sets in. Then there’s always the people that don’t take you seriously for whatever reason. I love proving them wrong.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The Reclusive Blogger is a creative project and publication founded by me, Brittney Williams circa 2014. I am based in Los Angeles but the readership is worldwide. I wear many hats besides founder, I am also the lead writer, photographer, and social media. I mainly cover and focus on music, film, entertainment, and pop culture. I’m probably most known for my in depth interviews, high-quality journalism alongside unique perspectives in photography, and introspective reviews and features on music and film. Including notable red carpet coverage, feature interviews and concert photography. The backbone of all my work comes from my insatiable love of music, film, entertainment, and the arts. I have been told I have an encyclopedic knowledge of it.

I’m probably most proud being able to build a online magazine from the ground up thats getting and keeping traction and that getting onto red carpets with other publications that have been around for decades.

I also have an offshoot podcast that I’m retooling, called The Reclusive Blogger… Interviews that I can’t wait to start up again in a bigger and better format. I really love connecting with people that way.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I have three: Purpose, Adaptability, & Mental Grit
