We recently had the chance to connect with Rick Rodstrom and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Rick, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Good morning and thank you for having me. I love playing guitar. I can play for hours just playing, creating and finding the “right sound”. I get lost in the creation process, I’ll make new songs and riffs that I feel are unique to the rock and rock songs that are out there today. As an artist and performer; within this creative process is where I feel the most comfortable and I believe it’s my destiny.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Rick Rodstrom. I am an actor, guitarist, singer, songwriter, model and host. I have been doing all of the above for some time now. I have been signed with as many as five talent agents, at one time. In 2023, I played the lead role of FBI Agent Hogan, in the Walter Perez film:”Norjack”. This film won several awards in Hollywood, on the film festival circuit. It premiered, in the Cannes Film Festival and it was on the long list to be nominated for an Academy Award. Norjack is currently streaming in the U.S. and will be streaming in the U.K. this coming January.
I am currently creating my first Rock album and I am excited to announce that I will be recording the cover song for this album by the middle of December.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I owe a lot to and I have tremendous gratitude for my sister and my brother-in-law, who saw something within myself that I did not see. She enrolled me into a youth basketball league when I was in the 5th grade; I loved the game and excelled at it, until junior college. I was searching in college for direction into what field I could have the most success? My brother-in-law gave me an opportunity that changed my focus and direction toward the performing arts and acting. From there, I was fortunate to obtain my first talent agent for modeling and acting. I obtained my SAG card in Hollywood and signed with more talent agents.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Don’t lose your creativity; it is the essence of you.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, I believe the public version of myself is the real me. One thing I strive for in the character’s I play is realism. Obviously, I want the audience to believe I am that character and I will go to great lengths to achieve that goal. This applies to real life where I am a person that will say what is on my mind and not hide behind a false pretense or facade of my public image.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I would hope that most people and my peers would say that I was a good actor, they loved my songs, he helped those less fortunate and he was a role model for future generations of artists.
