Today we’d like to introduce you to Pearl Johnson.
Hi Pearl , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got my start in the entertainment industry working alongside AJ Jamal, which opened the door to collaborations with iconic names such as Martin Lawrence, Biz Markie, and Starz In Black. From there, I opened a recording studio that quickly went viral, leading to a signing with Death Row Records under Global Music Group, in partnership with Cliff “C” Dial Wise.
My journey continued as a personal assistant to the legendary Village People, traveling worldwide with the group for approximately six years. Building on that experience, I expanded further into entertainment by launching a radio station and television platform, where I began interviewing A-list celebrities from around the world. Throughout this time, I worked closely with my longtime publicist, Cassandra Williams, who has been and continues to be an integral part of my career.
Beyond entertainment, I am deeply committed to community impact—producing major events, supporting battered women and children, advocating for suicide prevention, and serving as an activist. Most recently, I founded the Nevada Justice Coalition, a company dedicated to assisting families affected by hate crimes.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being a woman of color in the entertainment industry meant walking into rooms where I was often overlooked, underestimated, or expected to be silent. Being a woman in a male-dominated space made every step heavier, every victory harder earned. But some of the deepest wounds didn’t come from the industry itself—they came from believing in people who didn’t believe in me.
I trusted individuals I thought were solid, loyal, and genuine, only to discover they were not who I believed they were. That betrayal created a ripple of disappointment, loss, and emotional damage that followed me for years. Opportunities were delayed. Dreams were shaken. Confidence was tested.
There were moments when the weight of it all felt unbearable—when exhaustion, heartbreak, and disillusionment made me question whether continuing was worth it. But those experiences didn’t break me. They stripped me down, forced me to see clearly, and taught me how to stand on my own strength.
Every obstacle carved resilience into my spirit. Every disappointment sharpened my purpose. And every time I was pushed back, I rose with deeper clarity, stronger boundaries, and an unshakable belief in who I am and what I’m called to do.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
