Montana Rose of Sherman Oaks on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Montana Rose shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Montana, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. When have you felt most loved—and did you believe you deserved it?
The best love stories are the unexpected places you find love, and this person in particular was an angel sent to me that activated the artist within and Fill The City inside of me. I showed him my plan for Fill The City and the first version of my website as we were sitting in the town square in the middle of San Juan and he looked at me and said “I believe in your talent” and I ran with it. It hit me hard. I created multiple art installations after I meant him and here I’m today.

The first day I met him he offered to drive me in town and there were no feelings just good vibes. The next morning I woke up I heard someone playing piano and I went to go see who it was and just stood in his doorway watching him in flow and fell hard. I love watching men work or in flow. What I loved about him is his generosity of spirit, how he was close with his family, and he was always authentic and comfortable in his body and just good vibes to all ppl from ages 2-80. In the morning he’d cut up my strawberries so pricelessly for my breakfast and would bring me coffee in bed just because that’s who he is. His human nature inspired me to leave people better than I found them.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Montana Rose Gehring, founder of Fill The City, a Los Angeles–based experiential placemaking and out-of-home (OOH) agency. We help real estate developers, property owners, and global brands turn physical space into a growth engine, driving foot traffic, sales, and cultural relevance through high-impact experiences.

Fill The City operates at the intersection of urban marketing, experiential strategy, and brand expansion. For developers, we transform vacant lots, construction fences, and underutilized assets into marketing that signals momentum and attracts attention. For brands, we design experiential campaigns and OOH activations that build influence, accelerate awareness, and translate into measurable demand.

What makes us different is our phased, ROI-driven approach. We launch pilots, capture real-world performance, and scale what works helping clients grow without unnecessary risk or oversized upfront spend.

In a crowded digital world, Fill The City helps brands and properties show up where attention still lives: in real life.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
This chapter of my career and life and honestly womanhood is about clarity and standards. I’ve moved past over-explaining my value, over-educating people who aren’t ready, or staying in situations that require constant proving. I’m too valuable for that. I still operate with deep integrity and a high bar for excellence, but now I trust my discernment. When alignment is there, momentum follows. When it’s not, I exit early, cleanly, and with grace.

That shift has been foundational to how I build Fill The City today: focused on partners who see the value immediately, move decisively, and are ready to create real impact in the world not just talk about it and helps build an even stronger foundation for me to show up on screen and on stage to educate people powerfully of what is possible for the future and for their direction in life.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I just went through something like this in 2025, I felt like I was in the mental army and you reading this have probably have experienced the GIFT OF CONTRAST. Contrast is the greatest teacher ever. Experiencing what you dont want (or in reverse- getting to experience what you DO want) points you and aligns you in your souls direction. In my instance, I was granted with the gift of negative contrast to align exactly with what I want so much so I’m even more tenacious than before.

That contrast sharpened my direction and strengthened my resolve. Instead of slowing me down, it made me more focused and tenacious about building work, partnerships, and a business that are fully aligned with where I’m going next.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
What you see with me is what you get, this is why people from ages 2-85 trust me and connect with me so well. The only time I’m different is when I’ve experienced a persons energy who is jarring in which so my boundaries come up and I talk very much so like HR

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I know how to do positive energy magic with my own energy. If you want to do it also, its more or less an imagined intention, a regulated nervous system, good karma and healthy boundaries and a deep trust in self and the ability to feel and see patterns deeply in nature and people.
