Today we’d like to introduce you to Edgar Zamora.
Hi Edgar, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began my career in design in the early 1990s, driven by a fascination with how environments shape emotion and memory. What started as a passion for décor evolved into a full-scale event design studio as I realized that people don’t remember details — they remember how a space made them feel.
Over the past 30+ years, I’ve built Revelry Event Designers, creating immersive experiences for high-profile private clients, global brands, and major cultural moments. My work has ranged from intimate celebrations for clients such as Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Paris Hilton and Carter Reum, and Gwen Stefani, to large-scale productions including the Governor’s Ball for the Academy Awards, the Grammys, and the Emmys. Along the way, my work has been featured in publications including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, People, Brides, The New York Times, and others. Today, my focus is on experiential design that blends storytelling, architecture, emotion, and cultural depth — always pushing beyond decoration into meaning.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has never been a smooth road — and I don’t believe meaningful creative careers ever are.
Early on, the biggest challenge was credibility: convincing clients that events could be art, not just logistics. Later, the challenge became scale — protecting creativity while running a business, managing large teams, high expectations, and unforgiving timelines. Another constant challenge has been resisting repetition. Success can trap you in formulas. I’ve had to consciously evolve, say no to projects that felt empty, and risk reinvention even when it was uncomfortable. Growth often required letting go of what was already working.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I exist at the intersection of artist and entrepreneur.
Creatively, I design experiences that are immersive, emotional, and narrative-driven. I draw inspiration from architecture, nature, spirituality, geometry, and human behavior. My goal is not to impress, but to move people.
From a business perspective, I lead a studio that operates at the highest level of the luxury market. That requires precision, discipline, and the ability to translate abstract ideas into flawless execution. I see business not as a limitation, but as the structure that allows creativity to exist at scale.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Every meaningful step in my career involved risk. Starting my own company without guarantees. Turning down safe projects to pursue more ambitious ones. Reimagining my work when the industry expected me to stay the same. Even now, exploring new territories — from furniture design to experiential installations — is a form of risk. I don’t take reckless risks. I take intentional ones. I trust experience, instinct, and timing. For me, the biggest risk has always been staying still. Creative stagnation is far more dangerous than failure.
