Taylor Langston of Los Angeles on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Taylor Langston . Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Taylor, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Who are you learning from right now?
Right now, I’m learning the most from my community and the people around me. Being surrounded by creatives; especially my friends that are DJs and entrepreneurs has shown me what it really looks like to turn passion into income through consistency, discipline, and genuine love for the craft. Watching them stay committed and consistent, keeps me inspired.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Tay Melodies, a DJ and event curator based in Los Angeles. I previously held a residency at The Well, where I curated and hosted events like The Rhythm Rave and Soul Sundays at the Park. Those experiences helped me build intentional spaces centered around soulful, dance-driven music and community.
I also run a YouTube channel (OutsidetheClub) that features different DJs highlighting soulful R&B, house, jazz, and global sounds. As a DJ, my sets blend soulful house and dance music with elements of R&B, hip-hop, and global sounds creating an experience that’s rooted in feeling, rhythm, and connection.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was curious, expressive, and led by joy. I loved movement, music, and being around people. In many ways, I feel like I’m becoming that person again. Finding DJing and more importantly, finding a community that feels safe and affirming, has helped strip away years of self doubt and second guessing.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
There are so many kind things I would want to say, but if I could choose one, it would be to enjoy the time you have with the people you love. Be present, take more pictures, and don’t rush growing up.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I truly believe in astrology. I wouldn’t say Im an expert but Ive done a lot of studying and observing and too many things add up to me.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I understand deeply that life is short, and time is the one thing you can’t get back. Because of that, I believe it’s important to do what genuinely makes you happy while you have the chance.
