An Inspired Chat with Isis Josephina Ramirez of Los Angeles

Isis Josephina Ramirez shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Isis Josephina, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day look like a a lot of self-care. I wakeup early to have some time to myself and get rolling before set or whatever is in my schedule that day. I’ll start with the best outcome journal prompt because it really sets the tone. After that I definitely need caffeine so coffee and breakfast with a side of emails. Then finally I’ll head to the gym.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Isis, probably an alien; most likely an actor. I love diving head first into unknown spaces and creating art from it. Apart from acting, I also wear writing and producing hats. Overseeing things and keeping things on track fulfills me. Writing is an escape for me kinda like acting is but it feels a little more intimate because I tend to have a solo writer’s room.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The people pleasing tendency is something that has definitely died within me. It’s great to be nice and do things for people out the kindness of your heart but in my experience I’ve had several take advantage of that. Boundaries are so important to me and as soon as I feel like I’m overextending myself and It’s not appreciated; I’m out.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Be bold. Take up space. Don’t care about what everyone else thinks. I’d say all of these things to myself because I was a very shy individual that had a hard time standing up for myself. It’s interesting what happens when you start to move into this way of thinking. Sometimes the people that criticize you the most are the ones who still follow you.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. Sexy. Divine. Authentic. I think a lot of people see my instagram and are intimidated and then they meet me and realize I’m just a girl.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
Making everyone nervous. Life’s short and I love keeping everyone on their toes.
