We recently had the chance to connect with Louis Thomass and have shared our conversation below.
Louis, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I spend a lot of time on preparing and enjoying my breakfast every day. Even if I have to leave the house early, I’d rather get up in the wee hours of the morning and have a calm meal than rushing without eating at all.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
“James Taylor level of playing but modern sensibility of songwriting.”
My name is Louis Thomass, I am a songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist living in Los Angeles, but born and raised in Munich, Germany. My soul intention is to take the spirit of all my influences and transfer them into the 21st century with my original music.
Influenced and inspired by a wide range of genres from 50’s rock & roll and rockabilly to 70’s west coast country rock, late 70’s A.O.R, and 90’s country music, I take my musical notes from highly acclaimed artists The Eagles, James Taylor, John Mayer & Tom Petty, as well as many others. I play up to 250 shows a year as a solo artist, with my band the SURFING COWBOYS, and accompaning other artists.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My parents realized my passion for music very early on and always supported me right from the get go. They never once questioned my career path!
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
Taking the guitar and playing always restored my self-confidence and reminds me to this day what my calling is!
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Honesty and commitment are two things that are very important to me and always have been. I admire people who commit to something and go all the way!
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
It’s hard to say, but I feel very at peace when I’m on stage. The only thing that’s on the same level for me is spending quality time with my wife (which is rare given the amount of time I spend on the road).
