Torie Zalben shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Torie, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I wake up, go for a walk, meditate, make a beautiful breakfast and eat quietly while I stare at the rising sun. I call my friends and family and catch up with them and wish them all a great day. I then make a list of tasks and tackle them one by one.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am an artist, writer, art lover, and fascinated by nature and the cosmos. My brand is always evolving but the one constant is my pallet of saturated colors and abstract imagery conveyed through various mediums.
I am excited to showcase a new work at ICA LA’s INCOGNITO art exhibit at Hauser & Wirth gallery in downtown Los Angels’ Arts District on Saturday November 15th, 2025. Both established and emerging artists contribute anonymous works of art that are then generously donated and the proceeds benefit the ICA LA’s exhibitions, Learning & Engagement programs, and make it accessible to the public.
I am working on a line of video necklaces with jeweler Carter Eve. We are designing a one-of-a-kind video necklace. The necklace features videos by Willie Maldonado, co-founder of Milk Studios. Footage of Maldonado driving on iconic Los Angeles streets during 2020 will be displayed in the necklace’s video slideshow. The sale of this necklace will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Hollywood and will be auctioned at an event called Photo 25 at Milk Studios on December 9th, 2025.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I believed that I needed permission to get things done and that someone else would make my dreams come true. I no longer believe that and I give myself permission to make things happen.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
To be more patient. Things happen when they happen for a reason and that rejection is God’s protection.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I believe that we are all star seeds and from a celestial plane. That this human incarnation is one big dream.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I am on daily and nightly nature walks with my husband. We embrace the beauty of the sunrises and the sunsets.
