Today we’d like to introduce you to Silva Mirzoian – Marchi.
Hi silva, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up as a young girl in Baghdad, Iraq—never imagining that life would one day take me to Sydney, Australia, to Beverly Hills, and eventually to Palm Springs and Maui… or that I would become a published author and producer. Even while moving between cultures, I always sensed that my life would be far from ordinary. I didn’t yet know the path, but I felt that creativity would somehow guide my destiny.
After a brief and abusive marriage in Los Angeles, I was forced to rebuild my life from the ground up. Real estate in Beverly Hills became my new beginning. Blending design with construction awakened a creative passion within me, and transforming neglected properties into beautiful homes brought both personal and financial fulfillment. Yet deep down, I knew there had to be more to life than accumulating success. When the universe gifts us with talents, I believe we are meant to share them—to leave a meaningful impact on others. I just didn’t yet know where to start.
In 1989, I founded Passions & Dreams Funding, a nonprofit dedicated to inspiring and empowering women and families who had endured physical or financial abuse. As I spoke in women’s shelters, the demand for my teachings grew. That’s when I realized my message needed a wider reach. I turned my lessons into a book, which later became a local cable TV show—and my journey into television and film production began.
As I continued to reflect on life, I understood that who we become as adults begins in childhood—our values, our experiences, our sense of possibility. That realization expanded my mission to reach the children of today, the future leaders of tomorrow. What better way to inspire lasting change?
This vision gave birth to “Silva the Genie”, a comic book character designed to reach children through entertainment. We created videos, a comic book, and inspirational talking dolls—each sharing one simple message: “Create success through kindness to all living things.”
Today, I spend most of my time between Palm Springs, Los Angeles & Maui producing films and videos dedicated to that mission: inspiring people to live with compassion, purpose, and kindness toward every living being.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road was anything but smooth. Growing up as an Armenian Christian girl in the Middle East—within a predominantly Muslim country—already meant navigating layers of cultural complexity. Moving to Australia introduced an entirely different world: more open, more expressive, especially for young women. Adjusting to that freedom was exhilarating, yet challenging. And then came Los Angeles, where I found myself starting a new life with no family nearby to lean on.
What followed—physical, emotional, and financial hardship within an abusive marriage—was both humiliating and spirit-crushing. Experiences like these often push people into a downward spiral. You don’t know where to turn, who to trust, or how to climb back up without feeling like you’re burdening others. Especially family.
It wasn’t that my family wouldn’t have supported me—they absolutely would have, a thousand times over. And they did, when I finally walked away. But I never told them the full extent of the abuse. I didn’t want them to worry, and I also wanted them to see that I could rebuild my life on my own terms.
So I threw myself into work. I became a realtor and relied on the only credit card I had in my own name. Within a year, I bought my first home in Beverly Hills. One step at a time, I kept pushing forward. The challenges didn’t stop—but by then, I was stronger, wiser, and far more prepared to face them.
The teachings from these challenges has brough my life to where it is now. The Best Ever!!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Interesting questions:
As a producer, my focus today is on expanding the world of “Silva the Genie” through films, videos, and product lines. Together with my husband, Michael, we create what we call “Thought-Provoking Entertainment”—through our production company, Bing Productions – projects designed to inspire, uplift, and make a meaningful impact on our communities and the world. Our work centers on creating a healthier planet for children, animals, and the environment through engaging and purposeful entertainment.
I’m incredibly proud of the work we’re doing through Passions & Dreams Funding, the films we produce, and the lives we continue to touch. And because travel is such an important part of our lives, Michael and I made a commitment to “Travel with Intention.” Every journey we take now includes giving back to the community we’re visiting. For example, through our partnership with The Wheelchair Foundation, we travel to different countries to personally deliver wheelchairs and connect with local families. In Africa, our focus has been on supporting wildlife and animal protection. Each destination becomes an opportunity to uplift, serve, and learn.
I have never seen myself as separate from others. Much of what I do is the result of collaboration—working with people who bring their own gifts, expertise, and creativity to each project. Together, we are stronger, more effective, and more inspired. If anything sets me apart, it is this belief in collective impact and the power of working as a unified team.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
The most important advice I can offer is this: listen to your inner voice—the Genie within you. It will never lead you astray. Follow what you truly love. I know it sounds cliché, but it is one of life’s greatest truths.
In my book “Jump-Start Your Life”, I emphasize the importance of knowing yourself better than anyone else. When you understand your own spirit, your strengths, your values, and your dreams, you gain the clarity to shape your own path.
No matter how afraid you may feel, take that first step. Declare your intentions to the universe, and trust that it will guide you to the next step… and then the next. Momentum begins with a single act of courage—and from there, the path unfolds.
You can do it. If you don’t make it the first time, keep going and always ask your self – What is the worst that could happen? If the answer doesn’t involve losing your life, or harming another. Keep trying and be prepared to make slight adjustments to your vision as needed.
