Meet Liat Veysey of Lov Designs in Beverly Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liat Veysey.

Liat, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a So. Cal girl. Born and raised in Los Angeles and never really left. How could I leave California! I attended college at FIDM and studied Visual Communications. While I was working on productions for TV/film and part-time jobs in the fashion industry, I was also freelancing as a startup graphic designer.

I was great with technology and really enjoyed art and design work. When I started to realize I could do this for a living, I put my all my energy into building a brand and looking for work.

It has now been 5 years of freelancing and in the last year, I have become a full-time freelancer. I truly enjoy helping startups build their own brand and nothing feels better than having a client receive work from me and respond with excitement.

At the moment, I am living temporarily in New Zealand, with my boyfriend, Joey. Building an international clientele is one of my life goals and it doesn’t hurt that I get to explore this beautiful country. I’m lucky enough to have such a supportive partner, as well as produce a lot of visuals for his music career. (check out all the work I do for him on Instagram @hoodytime)

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I think every startup has a bumpy road. Especially working as a freelancer things can be tough sometimes. Some weeks I have a huge amount of work and projects and feel like I need 3 of me. Other weeks, I have not enough. Being self-employed can feel like a struggle, but without bumps in the road we can’t learn and we can’t grow. Success comes with failure.

Currently, I am traveling and living abroad. The pro is that most of my clients are LA-based and I still work with them. The con is not having the ability to sit down in a room with them and discuss the work.

But I have been so lucky to have built a business that can now run from anywhere in the world. It took me a while to get to where I am but I’m currently very happy with my life.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the LOV DESIGNS story. Tell us more about the business.
LOV Designs is an independent design business. My services include graphic design, web design, social media management and helping to build new brands.

I work with companies/clients that range from fashion companies, boutiques, musicians, beauty bloggers, jewelry designers, DIY-ers, non-profit organizations, health and fitness brands, startups and so many more.

I think what sets LOV Designs apart is that I value the relationships with my clients. Helping a company with visual design means I have to understand them. I take my time to learn what they want and give them a step above that. And it doesn’t hurt that my turn around time is quick and my prices are affordable for the new generation of businesses.

I am most proud that I have come this far on my own. My dream is to keep growing and eventually have a creative team I can work with.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck is something that I still wonder about. I don’t know if luck is something that I depend on. I think the results I get, is from what I put out. If I put 100% into researching, marketing, networking… then, I have a better chance to find new work. Sometimes, it’s just about being in the right place, at the right time. For example, going out for a casual drink on a Sunday with my boyfriend turned into meeting a local business owner, who is looking for someone to help re-brand. The opportunities are everywhere… maybe it is luck that got me there… I’ll never really know.

However, I have been lucky enough to have amazing clients who still let me work with them, while I travel.
