Meet Madison Mckenzie of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Mckenzie.

Hi Madison, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I learned to talk without words.

My story starts with something simple, but something that shaped everything about me. I’ve always been infatuated with self-care. Not in a surface-level way, but in a way that felt emotional and addictive. As I got older, that infatuation became a kind of self-study. I realized I wasn’t just taking care of myself. I was learning myself. I was learning how to advocate for myself without needing to say a single word.

I paid attention to everything. The way I walked. The way my shoulders settled. The rhythm of my hips. I studied movement like it held secrets. I watched documentaries about runway legends and then got on the treadmill to practice until the walk felt like something I created, not something I copied. I whispered affirmations as my feet hit the belt because I wanted confidence to live in my body, not just in my mind.

And once I felt the difference, I noticed the world felt it too. People treated me differently when I walked with intention. That made me curious, almost scientifically curious. If changing my walk changed my energy, what else could I shift? What else could I refine?

So I kept going. My skin became a project I handled with devotion. My hair became something I experimented with like an artist. My fitness routine became a daily ritual. I loved the feeling of moving my body every day. I loved being lean and light and strong. I loved the process of turning small habits into a version of myself that felt more powerful.

I even obsessed over the smallest features. My eyebrows. My eye shape. The psychology of a middle part versus a side part. I treated myself like my own experiment, not because I wanted perfection, but because I wanted understanding. I wanted to know how every detail contributed to the woman I was becoming.

As I evolved physically, I evolved mentally too. The more I read and experienced, the more self-aware I became. I realized that all of this effort, all of this attention, was my way of advocating for myself on an emotional and intellectual level. I was building a relationship with myself that felt passionate, honest, and unstoppable.

And that’s what led me to modeling. When I finally put myself out there, it felt natural because I had already spent years studying my angles, my presence, my softness, my power. Even though I only started modeling seriously this past September, it never felt like a beginning. It felt like a continuation of a story I had been writing for years in private.

Now, when people see my photos, they don’t just see a model. They see someone who built herself piece by piece. Someone who learned the psychology of beauty, movement, and expression. Someone who deeply understands the woman she is becoming.

I’ve always been infatuated with myself in the most humble, self-loving way because I know how much work it takes to show up as that version of myself. Modeling became the place where I could finally let that work speak for itself.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I didn’t walk into this industry alone. I walked in carrying the strength of the women in my family. My support system has never wavered. The matriarchs in my life — my aunt Tameya, who gives me endless encouragement and lets me spill my thoughts without judgment; my grandma Kasandra, who has been my silent anchor and my savior in more ways than people know; and my mother, Teju, whose presence is something words will never be big enough to explain — they built the foundation I stand on now.

The challenges came from the industry itself. I entered a space where no one knew my name yet, where visibility is currency, and where access isn’t handed out.

My obstacle was learning how to introduce myself to a world that moves fast, remembers faces, and rewards recognition.

So I learned. I learned how to position myself. I learned how to prepare. I learned how to show up to castings and sets with intention, even when I had to build experience in real time. I learned how to create opportunities from nothing but effort, research, and belief in my own potential.

Every booking I’ve gotten so far came from initiative. And, every challenge has sharpened me. It forced me to move strategically, to refine my presentation, and to shape the kind of career I want long-term.

It hasn’t been a smooth road, but it’s been a meaningful one. Every step taught me something about who I am, what I bring, and how far I plan to go.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
In my work, I model across multiple verticals ranging from e-commerce, to digital campaigns, editorial imagery, website assets, and lifestyle content. I understand how to shift between clean product modeling and more expressive, story-driven editorial direction, which is why versatility has become my strongest asset. I know how to translate emotion through stillness, how to adjust my expressions for different lighting, and how to match the visual language a brand is trying to communicate.

What I’m known for on set is my professionalism and my presence. I’m collaborative, easy to direct, and genuinely engaged in the creative process. I have the strong ability of understanding the brand identity, the consumer they’re speaking to, and the aesthetic they’re building. I bring warmth and personality into every room I walk into, and I think that makes people feel comfortable, understood, and excited to create.

One of my most meaningful projects so far has been my work with XObyKamiah. Kamiah Adams-Beal took a chance on me early, and shooting her luxury hair holiday campaign felt like a defining moment. I worked across e-commerce, campaign assets, and social content over two full production days. The glam team studied me with the same level of detail I study myself — Micah J. shaping the perfect part to complement my face, and Sandra Marcie designing makeup that highlighted my natural structure. That shoot solidified my confidence and showed me what it looks like when a creative team believes in you fully.

I’m also part of the Amazon Influencer Program, where I produce curated collections and shoppable content. Boohoo trusted me with my own storefront and signature quote, which allowed me to build experience in consistent lifestyle deliverables. I shot an editorial swim production for BERLOOK and created content for brands like Savage X Fenty and Fashion Nova.

At the core of what sets me apart is how deeply I study myself and my craft. My beauty is attainable, but my awareness of it is intentional. I understand how to shift energy, expression, and movement to create images that feel alive. I bring discipline, curiosity, warmth, and a collaborative spirit into every job, and I think that combination is what keeps me growing in this industry.

What are your plans for the future?
I’m stepping into a stage in my career where representation is the natural next step. I’ve built a solid foundation via real production experience, real deliverables, versatility in front of the camera, and a clear understanding of where I fit in the market. Now, I’m ready to align with an agency that sees the potential I’ve been developing and is prepared to guide me into the next tier of work.

I’m looking forward to expanding into luxury beauty, refined editorial, and elevated commercial campaigns. I want to build a portfolio that feels intentional and sophisticated, one that reflects the range I’ve already proven and the direction I’m growing toward. I’m excited to work with creative teams who value precision, depth, and the emotional quality I bring into my modeling.

The biggest change ahead is structure. I’ve built this first phase on initiative expanding from self-submissions, castings, collaborating with brands directly, and learning through real production environments. Now I’m ready for the partnership, strategy, and long-term development that come with agency representation.

I want to work with a team that understands my potential in beauty, fashion, and commercial spaces, and can help shape a career with longevity.

I feel prepared. I feel focused. And I’m ready to take the next step with an agency that wants to grow alongside me.
