Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Del Toro.
Jasmine , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I originally started creating content under girlnamedjazz as a creative outlet more than anything else. I’ve always been drawn to beauty, fashion, and storytelling, and social media became a place where I could share pieces of my life in a way that felt authentic. What began as casual posting five years ago slowly turned into a community of people who genuinely connected with my content, trusted my recommendations, and related to my journey. I never saw myself as “just an influencer” — I always approached it as building a personal brand rooted in honesty, creativity, and confidence.
As my platform grew, I realized I wanted something deeper than quick content — I wanted to create a space that lived beyond platforms and trends. That’s how Layers of Beauty was created. It started as a blog but quickly became an extension of my purpose: to create content that made people feel seen, inspired, and confident from the inside out. I built it from the ground up, combining my love for aesthetics with strategy and storytelling. Today, I manage my personal brand alongside a growing digital platform that focuses on beauty, lifestyle, and self-growth. The journey hasn’t been overnight — it’s been built through consistency, learning, and showing up even when things felt uncertain.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road. Like most creative paths, there were a lot of moments where growth felt slow, unpredictable, and uncertain. One of the biggest challenges was learning how to balance creativity with the business side of content creation — understanding branding, analytics, partnerships, and staying consistent even when progress wasn’t immediately visible. It’s easy to romanticize the journey, but there were times where I questioned myself, compared my path to others, and wondered if I was doing enough.
Another challenge was learning how to stay authentic in a space that constantly pushes trends and perfection. There were moments when I felt pressure to fit into a mold or create in ways that didn’t fully feel like me. Building Layers of Beauty also came with its own obstacles — from figuring out the technical side of running a platform to learning design and strategy through trial and error. But every setback taught me something. The challenges shaped my confidence, sharpened my purpose, and reminded me why I started in the first place. I didn’t grow despite the difficult moments — I grew because of them.
We’ve been impressed with Layers of Beauty, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Layers of Beauty is more than a blog — it’s a digital destination built around confidence, self-expression, and self-discovery through beauty and lifestyle. What started as a creative outlet has grown into a brand rooted in honest storytelling, real product experiences, and intentional content. I focus on beauty, fashion, and wellness, but everything ties back to one core idea: helping women feel good in their own skin — not through perfection, but through authenticity.
What I’m most proud of is the community. My goal isn’t to tell people who to be — it’s to remind them of who they already are. I want readers to know that this brand stands for confidence that’s built, not bought; beauty that’s layered, and growth that’s personal, powerful, and ongoing.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’ve learned to see risk less as something intimidating and more as something necessary. Growth doesn’t come from staying comfortable — it comes from deciding to move forward even when you don’t have every answer yet. Early on, the biggest risk I took was believing in myself before I had “proof” that things would work. Posting consistently, investing in my platform, and building Layers of Beauty without knowing exactly where it would lead required a lot of trust — in my vision and in the process.
Launching Layers of Beauty was another big leap. It meant turning a passion into a business and committing time, energy, and resources into something with no guarantees. There were moments when it would have been easier to treat content creation as a hobby instead of taking it seriously. But I chose to build anyway. For me, risk isn’t about being reckless — it’s about being intentional. I think the real risk is not trying at all. Every step forward has taught me more than staying still ever could.
