Sebastian Konnackel shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Sebastian, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
I’d say integrity for sure. Intelligence and energy can be developed over time. But the one thing that always puts me at ease when working with someone is their integrity. I believe thats a strong foundation to build any releationship on, whether personal or professional.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a drummer and audio engineer based in Los Angeles. I play mostly pop punk, post hardcore and progressive metal but I play other genres as well depending on the gig. I am currently a full time member of the band “David Orien”. I would describe us as a hardcore punk band with a hint of theater haha. We’re currently working on a bunch of singles starting in January culminating in an EP in the middle of 2026.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was an extremely shy, lazy, unmotivated and anxious individual who was on track to probably work in IT. Some would call it a safe career path, especially considering that I come from an Indian household.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes absolutely, it was when COVID struck. All of a sudden, everything in my life and career got put on hold. Everything I had worked for until then almost felt meaningless. It took a lot of effort to keep going and start again from scratch.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
Working in the music industry, I believe the biggest lie that most aspiring musicians tell themselves is that they will succeed one day as long as they keep trying no matter what. While hard work and a grind mindset is very important, it is also important to choose your path wisely. You have to be very careful about who you work with and what steps you take to achieve your dreams. You always have to make calculated decisions, with every decision allowing you to accomplish something new or take you one step further to achieve your goals. And always be vary of people who approach you with make guarantees or promises. No one can guarantee anything in this industry.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
Honestly, I’d say I’m the happiest I’ve been in a long time right now. I get to work with amazing people every day. I’m learning more than I ever thought I would and my work takes me to different parts of the country.
