Today we’d like to introduce you to Demisha Robbins.

Hi Demisha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Demisha Robbins. I am a mother of and I am the owner of Marque Lux Beauty Bar based out of Oak Park, IL and the brand owner of Nail Tactics 101 and Her Hustle Academy. I began my entrepreneurial journey in 2019, right before COVID hit, as a self-taught nail artist. After trying several other business ventures, this one truly resonated with my inner need to be creative.

I remember investing $500 in a one-on-one class with my girl Mari—who was already making waves in the nail industry—to learn the fundamentals. After that, the rest was history. I would come home from my 9–5, practice nonstop, and share my entire journey online. That’s how Nail Tactics 101 was born.

I poured my time into learning new techniques, reselling nail supplies, and leveling up my skills. I knew I wanted something bigger, so I worked, saved, and eventually paid my way through nail school to become licensed. As all of this was happening, my nail art started gaining recognition. From there, I expanded into Marque Lux Beauty Bar, where I now offer a space for clients to relax, feel catered to, and receive quality nail care.

Her Hustle Academy represents the brand-expert side of my business, where I help other entrepreneurs strategically scale online.

My children are my motivation to keep going! Without them who knows where I’d be.

And now, it’s time to expand even more.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No it hasn’t been smooth at all! I had a commercial space I had to leave early due to things not being what I was told and downsize. I had to step back from training others till I got in the right space as again for myself mentally. I also lost business. It crushed me but i know God was preparing me for something better.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a licensed nail professional who specializes in Acrylic nail enhancements and creative hand painted designs. I am most proud of the network I’ve built and regardless of all the changes I am proud of not giving up on myself. What sets me apart is that I implement my corporate business skills in customer service into how I operate as a business owner.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Yes! I definitely recommend getting a mentor
even if you think you know it all. Establish your goals and find a mentor that can walk with you on that path and can understand the direction you’re coming from. I recommend putting yourself out there as a business owner. Get in rooms with people to create visibility! Always be prepared to talk about your business
