Lynne Newton shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Lynne, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
One thing that has made me feel very proud is I just completed a screen writing class that had 20 modules that you had to complete in order to receive a certificate.
After working a full time forty plus a week hour job, it was very challenging. Finding the time and mental stamina was not easy. So I am proud that I made it through and will receive a certificate of completion.
As far as things that make laugh, I would have to say right now, a lot the comedic content on Instagram brings me great joy.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am an independent film writer, producer, actor and now author. I’ve lived in Los Angeles for 27 years and have Over 60 filmmaking credits.
I have a co producer who I work with, and we currently have films in various stages of development. One film “Enipheres” has won 100 awards in the Film Festival circuit.
I recently finished a screen writing course where I worked with a mentor who helped me with structure and finding my voice.
I also have a feature script that I have just written that I am currently pitching to be optioned and produced
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child you believe you can do anything because you don’t know any better. But as I got older and started to develop my own style and personality and made my own decisions, I realized that my beliefs were very limiting. I got into independent filmmaking, and it really opened my eyes to what I was capable of doing.
My proof-of-concept film Enipheres had 32 cast members and an equal amount of crew. Although I had some help along the way, most of the work was on me. I never thought I could pull off such an amazing feat, but I realized once I put my mind to something there’s no stopping me.
When did you last change your mind about something important?
I recently was working with the company who specializes in taking your IP (which mine was a book) and their specialty was to create a short AI trailer for your book. All seemed great. I thought everything was going along fine. I had a meeting with the company they were very excited about it.
Then months and months went by and they would could not produce the trailer after giving them a more than fair amount of time to produce it. And by the way there was cost involved, it was not a free service.
So unfortunately, I had to ask for my money back because the story that I wanted them to tell was very important to me. It was very personal and the fact that they didn’t take it serious enough was very disheartening and disappointing. So I backed out of the agreement with them.
I realize that sometimes things don’t work out for a reason, and I don’t try to force things to work anymore it has to be effortless and then I know it’s the right decision.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I love this question! There are so many people I admire and respect.
I truly admire:
I admire my mom for being resilient and positive. She’s made me the person that I am today
Taylor Swift For her big heart and enormous generosity
President of the Ukraine-Volodymyr Zelensky for his courage and tenacity
President Obama/Michelle Obama- For continuing to bring hope and positive energy
The Kansas City Chiefs- My favorite football team and four-time Super Bowl champions
Filmmakers- I admire everyone in the film industry as it is a very difficult Profession and career. I am truly inspired every day by my peers.
There are so many more but this is off the top of my head.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
As I’ve gotten older, I understand a lot more that everything we do as humans has a ripple effect. It is up to us as a collective consciousness to put forth the things in the world that we want to see.
We must I make a conscious decision that our planet earth is one of the most important things in the world. We must ensure its longevity and care for it as much as we possibly can.
