Meet Lauren Schneider of Artus & Co

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Schneider.

Hi Lauren , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I discovered my love for interior design in my early twenties while nannying for a family who was undergoing a major home renovation. Watching their space transform sparked something in me—I realized I had both the curiosity and the creative instinct to pursue design professionally. Soon after, I enrolled in UCLA’s Extension program for Interior Architecture, where I built the foundational skills that helped me quickly land my first job in the field.

Eager to learn as much as possible, I took on several internships and junior designer positions at various LA design firms. That path eventually led me to Avenue Interior Design, which became the pinnacle of my design apprenticeship. There, I collaborated closely with major hospitality brands and refined my ability to manage large, complex projects with high expectations, fast timelines and strict budgets. That experience ultimately gave me the confidence to step out on my own.

In 2017, I co-founded my first studio, Transition State, with two partners. We grew quickly, and over six years I learned invaluable lessons about building a business, nurturing a team and leading a creative vision. When I became pregnant with my third, I felt called to enter a new chapter — one that offered full creative autonomy and the opportunity to focus on projects that deeply resonated with me.

Artus & Co. was born from that desire. Nearly two years in the making, we are built on intentionality, creativity and a commitment to crafting spaces that feel both elevated and deeply personal. And we’re just getting started.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. In the early days of starting my previous studio with partners, there were plenty of bumps— aligning on a collective vision was both challenging and energizing. In early 2020, we were set to launch a capsule pillow collection we had been working on for months which got derailed when Covid hit. Scaling the business has always felt like a challenge. Building a team that can interpret and execute your vision allows you to step into a big picture role and take on more projects however that takes time and trust to find the right people.

There will always be hiccups with vendors, clients, and the countless moving parts of running a design studio. Over time, I’ve learned not to sweat the small stuff as much. There is always a solution to every problem, and I’ve consistently found a way to navigate whatever comes my way. That track record gives me confidence—and trust—that I’ll continue to figure it out as I go.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Artus & Co is a full-service interior design studio based in Los Angeles with projects across the U.S. We specialize in new construction, large-scale renovations, full furnishings and art curation.

Our detail-oriented team partners closely with architects, contractors and builders to guide every phase of the process. From architectural fixtures and finishes to hand-selected furnishings, textiles, and décor, we create spaces that reflect each client’s individual style and needs.

After co-founding Transition State and leading numerous high-end residential projects, I launched Artus & Co to focus on work that feels both emotionally resonant and aesthetically refined. I bring a lens that blends strategic thinking with intuitive design. My approach is collaborative and personal, shaped by each client’s values, lifestyle, and long-term vision, while also grounded in the practical side of design—managing budgets, timelines and moving projects from concept to completion with clarity.

My portfolio spans art-forward homes, family-centered renovations and creative partnerships with architects, builders and artists. Across all projects, the goal remains the same: to create enduring spaces that balance beauty, functionality and a sense of emotional connection.

I see design as a tool for storytelling and transformation. Artus & Co is about crafting places that feel as good to live in as they are beautiful, and guiding clients through a meaningful, personal journey.

Building out this studio on my own is what I’m most proud of — it has given me the freedom to take on projects that truly resonate while also allowing me to step back and be present with my three young kids. Finding that balance and letting go of the “mom guilt,” has been one of the most rewarding parts of this entire journey.
