Hi Charles, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Founded in Australia and led by designer Charles Lichaa, 8 Other Reasons was born from a love of self-expression, sensuality, and edge. What started as a cult accessories line in 2010 has evolved into a global creative brand redefining modern glamour — one statement piece at a time.

At 8 Other Reasons, fashion is emotion. Every collection captures confidence, contrast, and the beauty of imperfection — a balance of strength and softness, power and play. We design for the moments that make you feel something, the details that say everything.

The 8OR woman doesn’t follow rules — she writes her own. She’s bold, magnetic, unapologetic. The muse, the maker, the life of the party. She wears her story — and her reasons — like armor and art.

8 Other Reasons is for the ones who dare to feel more, shine louder, and live beautifully undone.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a seamless journey, and we’ve encountered our share of meaningful challenges along the way. As the business scaled, we reached a pivotal moment where our original, in-house production could no longer keep up with demand. Transitioning to larger-scale manufacturing required extensive testing and careful vetting to find the right factory partner who could uphold our standards and vision.

We also decided to relocate our operations to the United States — a move that brought its own complexities and learning curves. Uprooting a brand across borders is never simple, but it pushed us to grow in new ways.

Each of these hurdles has shaped who we are today. They’ve strengthened our foundation, sharpened our focus, and reinforced our commitment to showing up with resilience, intention, and purpose. And as we continue to evolve, that spirit remains at the core of 8 Other Reasons.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My name is Charles Anthony Lichaa, and I’m a multidisciplinary designer with a focus on jewelry and handbag design. I serve as the creative lead at 8 Other Reasons, where I shape the brand’s aesthetic, product vision, and creative direction.

What I’m most proud of is building and guiding the brand for over a decade—growing it from an emerging label into a recognized name with a loyal global community. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to develop meaningful collaborations, including our largest to date: a partnership with WICKED, for Good, which was a milestone in both creativity and impact.

What sets my work apart is a commitment to designing pieces that feel expressive, accessible, and emotionally resonant. I’m driven by the idea that great design should empower people to show up as the boldest version of themselves, and that philosophy is reflected in everything I create.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe success is purely about luck. In both life and business, I’ve found it’s really about grit, determination, and passion. Grit gets you through the moments when your tank feels empty, determination keeps you moving forward when the path isn’t clear, and passion is what makes the work meaningful. Luck may open a door here and there, but it’s the discipline to keep showing up—and the love for what you do—that ultimately shapes the outcome.
