Exploring Life & Business with Jennifer Velasco of JLuxxTravels

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Velasco.

Hi Jennifer, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story, just like many Angelenos, started off in a very traditional manner. I attended a private High School in Glendale, I then attended Cal State University Northridge for my under graduate in Health Sciences, and lastly I attended USC for my Graduate Degree in Public Health. As a daughter of an immigrant mother, I was one of the first ones to attain collegiate achievements in my family. Upon the completion of my Graduate degree I started looking for jobs, specifically in the sector of Community Health. Unfortunately, the completion of my graduate degree was in 2008 where there was a financial crisis also taking place. The job market was lacking in 2008 and 2009 and I became super frustrated and felt defeated after working so hard for a degree. I didn’t settle and I remained optimistic for something close to home that paid enough to live a thriving lifestyle, along with a sufficient income to pay back some hefty graduate school loans. After searching tirelessly, an offer landed on my lap in 2010 at Costco–my employer at that time. I ran an employee based Health Education program for over 300 employees and it was it huge success but eventually the company shifted to sourcing Employee Based Health Education program to an outside agency.

I was completely heartbroken, but this was the shift that took place where a new passion began to grow–Traveling! In about 2015 my friends and I began traveling the United States and I became the person who would curate all aspects of our trips. In 2019, I curated a trip to Greece–our first trip across the pond. I was scared and I truly did not know how that particular trip would pan out. It was a complete SUCCESS!!! Everything flowed smoothly and everyone was ecstatic at how every detail was addressed. Flights, accommodations, excursions, dining reservations, etc. One of the evenings in Santorini my best friend told me that I was superb at curating trips and that I should consider making a business from it. JLuxxTravels was born in Greece and it became an idea that quickly became a movement. Suddenly social media was highlighting some beautiful getaways and friends and strangers alike were interested in my services. Unfortunately, 2020 rolled around where the whole world essentially shut down for a couple of years. JLuxxTravels was placed on hold but I knew one day would come where I could scale this business. Fast forward to 2025, JLuxxTravels is officially an LLC and my travel business is moving forward with high expectations in 2026. Since 2019, JLuxxTravels has visited fun and exciting countries such as Germany, Italy, Switzerland, France, Spain, London, Japan, Tahiti, and so many more fun and exciting travels in 2026. Stay tuned!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No it has never been a smooth road, but it has made everything that much sweeter! The Pandemic in 2020 really discouraged me and I asked myself “am I supposed to pivot AGAIN?” “To do what?” “Back to Public Health?” “But I don’t have recent experience”. I just sat still but in 2022 my best friend started traveling again. As friends, family, and strangers alike began to see our travels on social media people began to show interest once again. This was a confirmation that Travel Advising and Design was, and continues to be my calling! It is truly my purpose work!

We’ve been impressed with JLuxxTravels, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
JLuxxTravels is a travel lifestyle! My attention to detail in creating unforgettable memories is unmatched! Helping others travel the entire world as well? When clients come to me I feel well versed in providing clients with sound and experiential advice. But equally true, I feel confident in curating travels for my clients to destinations I’ve never been to. I am known for curating luxurious travels itineraries at unbeatable prices.

What sets me aside is that I curate ALL travels as if they were my own personal travels. The attention to detail is unmatched and I deliver a COMPREHENSIVE travel itinerary. I am most proud that JLuxxTravels survived the Pandemic in 2020 and in subsequent years. I knew that JLuxxTravels was my purpose work since 2019 in Greece! JLuxxTravels is in business and ready to take prospective clients travels in 2026 and beyond to new levels!

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My best friend, Kischa, deserves a whole lot of credit. Kischa and I had a heart to heart in Greece in 2019 where she pushed me to my Travel Advisor calling! She knew before I did that I had a gift of detail. In many instances, Kischa is the co-founder of JLuxxTravels. Thank you besty for pushing me to be the best version of myself!
