We’re looking forward to introducing you to Christina Palacios. Check out our conversation below.
Christina , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Barefoot beach walks with the best man in the world my husband! And taste testing all the matcha lattes in LA for the best one.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I think the fact that I play indigenous roles and Spanish American roles makes me unique. Also to have had the opportunity to go to drama school in London and work in London theatre was really special. The training I had there has really set me up for having a lot of fun on set and being at ease..
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with my dad. He was really funny, super grounded and big heart loving. He passed away, but he allowed me to be me and I’ll never forget that. It was as if I could do no wrong and he always told me the most important thing was “Christina, be honest with yourself, be honest with everyone,” and I’ll never forget that. He gave me this powerful example and energy. Never lie to yourself about what you want for your life.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
Most recently I started doing that. We’re human beings and we all experience pain. It’s the good with the bad. I think when you’re younger, you’re constantly looking for the positive but a coin has two sides, so now I embrace the pain and joy, knowing that they can exist together. It’s been really freeing and so much more ease…that I do have everything I need. That’s my latest mantra.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes pretty much! I’m an actor so I’m always looking for the honest truth, it’s who I am, which is great for comedy and drama.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: How do you know when you’re out of your depth?
When I’ve lost my sense of humor.!! 😂
