We’re looking forward to introducing you to Monique Montgomery. Check out our conversation below.
Monique, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, I’ve been finding joy in the little things like my morning rituals, creative projects, self-care, and exploring new experiences that nourish my mind, body, and soul. I’m prioritizing connection, wellness, and personal growth, and it’s amazing how these simple moments bring so much peace and happiness.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a publicist and event producer. I help artists, brands, and organizations gain visibility through media coverage and unforgettable events. I am absolutely passionate about creating experiences that leave a lasting impact.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Bonds between people are often broken by a lack of trust, poor communication, or neglect. Healing those bonds comes from honest conversation, empathy, and a willingness to forgive and understand each other. Ultimately, showing care, being present, and creating meaningful experiences together restores connection and strengthens relationships.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that’s held me back the most has been the idea of fully stepping into my success and realizing my true potential. You’d think that kind of vision would be purely motivating, but sometimes the weight of what that actually means—the responsibility, the change, the visibility—can all be very intimidating. I’ve learned that growth often starts on the other side of that fear, and I’m finally embracing what I’m truly capable of. NO GOING BACK!
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
“Smart people” often mistake being busy for being effective. They focus on the wrong metrics, overlook human insight, and forget that long-term impact matters more than immediate results.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people remember me as someone who took bold leaps of faith, faced challenges head-on, and created a lasting impact not just for myself, but for my family for generations to come. I want my story to be one of courage, resilience, and leaving a legacy that inspires others to reach higher.
