Check Out Angela Kukhahn’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Kukhahn.

Hi angela, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey began after a car accident in 2003 that tore the meniscus in both of my knees. Doctors told me I’d never walk without a limp unless I had surgery, but I turned to yoga instead. Through consistent practice, I not only healed my knees, but discovered something much deeper. What started as a way to get fit and recover physically became a spiritual awakening that changed the way I was living my entire life.

What started as a way to get fit and recover physically became a spiritual awakening that changed the way I was living my entire life.

That experience led me to move to Los Angeles in 2007 to study yoga with Annie Carpenter, and it set the foundation for everything I’ve built since. Over the years, I’ve trained extensively in yoga, Pilates, anatomy, and functional mobility, blending them into an approach that’s creative, empowering, and deeply mindful.

Today, I teach at studios across LA, lead teacher trainings, and share classes online with a global community. My mission is to help people move beyond “achieving poses” and instead rediscover their strength, balance, and intuition through embodied movement. Yoga healed my body — but more importantly, it gave me a way to help others find healing, confidence, and purpose in theirs.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The wellness industry can also be unpredictable and competitive, especially in Los Angeles. It took time to find my voice and learn to trust that authenticity would resonate more than perfection. I had to navigate burnout, financial uncertainty, and the constant challenge of saying yes to what truly aligned with my purpose and no to what didn’t.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m known for creative sequencing, intelligent anatomy cues, and helping students connect strength with mindfulness. My teaching blends functional movement, flow, and play.

I specialize in handstand and inversion training, injury recovery, and vinyasa classes that build real, functional strength. What sets me apart is my ability to make advanced movement accessible and intuitive, breaking things down so students feel empowered and capable at every level.

I’m most proud of creating a community that celebrates growth over perfection. For me, yoga isn’t just about poses, it’s about play, curiosity, and connection.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Stay curious and patient, your path is supposed to unfold in its own timing. Focus on building a strong foundation: in your practice, your integrity, and your teaching voice. Don’t rush to be “known”; instead, fall in love with the process of learning and helping others.

I wish I’d known earlier that authenticity is your greatest strength. You don’t have to sound or look like anyone else, the right people will find you when you show up honestly and consistently.

Keep learning, keep showing up, keep practicing and remember why you started. That “why” will guide you through every challenge and keep the joy alive.
