Tara Maietta’s career in fashion began in 2004 with a small SoHo-based bridal designer, where she gained a hands-on education in every aspect of the business. That early experience revealed her natural instinct for brand growth and creative development, leading her to Vera Wang. There, she played a pivotal role in expanding the brand’s international bridal presence across Asia and Europe before moving to Los Angeles to manage the flagship store and oversee celebrity red carpet dressing for clients such as Charlize Theron, Reese Witherspoon, and Mila Kunis.
Her next chapter brought her to Oscar de la Renta’s New York headquarters, where she led the Global Sales Division and helped drive international wholesale growth while collaborating on VIP and red carpet initiatives. After twelve years working for two of the most iconic fashion houses, Tara followed her instincts back to California, seeking balance and creative independence.
In 2020, she founded Tara Maietta Style, a brand consulting and styling company that quickly earned recognition among top wedding planners and fashion insiders. Her refined, editorial approach to bridal styling — paired with her business acumen — has made her a trusted name in the industry. Her work has been featured in Vogue, ELLE, People, and more, cementing her reputation as a leading voice in modern bridal and event fashion.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any new business, the road wasn’t always smooth. Coming from a corporate background with large teams, I had to adjust to doing everything on my own — even the parts that didn’t come naturally. It was challenging and often uncomfortable, but it taught me resilience and resourcefulness. Now, six years in, I’m grateful to have an incredible team that allows me to focus on my strengths and deliver the best possible experience to my clients.
