Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Gertz.
Hi Michelle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In many ways, I’ve always been in the business of helping people find their voice and step into their most authentic role — whether it was in front of a camera or in their own lives. My career began in casting, and what drew me to that field was my love of people and stories. As a feature film Casting Director for 20+ years, I learned to really see people — to look past the surface and understand their energy, potential, and what made them come alive. My job was to match that essence with the right opportunity. It taught me a lot about human nature, confidence, and the courage it takes to show up fully as yourself. Casting allowed me to learn and grow immeasurably, while working with young actors and talent on films such as American Pie, Legally Blonde, Bring It On and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
Over time, though, I began to feel a pull toward something deeper. I was ready for a professional shift. I loved helping people bring characters to life, but I started asking myself, ‘What about our own stories? Who are we becoming in our lives beyond the roles we play?’ Like many people, I hit a reflective point in midlife — balancing parenting, career, and identity — and I realized I wanted to help others navigate that space with the same kind of curiosity and creativity I once brought to casting. Looking back on my early career, I realized it was the process of giving individuals the space and grace to find their own voices and develop their stories that drew me in. I understood early on that I was skilled at connecting to other individuals and guiding them to find their passions.
That’s what led me to Professional Coaching, Group facilitation and Creating Workshops. Today, I lead programs and conversations that help people — especially parents and those in midlife transitions — reconnect with themselves, their purpose, and their growth. My approach blends the storytelling and human insight from my casting background with the tools of personal development. It’s about helping people rewrite their inner script, move through change with intention, and rediscover what fulfillment looks like now.
Ultimately, the work isn’t so different — it’s still about seeing people clearly, helping them find alignment, and giving them the confidence to step into who they truly are. The only difference is that now, instead of helping someone fit into a role, I help them create their own Next Chapter!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The challenge is we live in a world where connection and community is not always on people’s radar. We are a wired, plugged-in society where digital feeds make it easy to ignore and numb the lack of connection people feel. I have such an innate optimism that human beings want to not only survive their days, but to thrive. It is never about “finding” time – it is about Making The Time to be intentional and introspective in order to fully realize what is NEXT for you. That’s why I created my business and why my clients and groups have such a meaningful experience.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
