An Inspired Chat with Morgan Lester of West Hollywood

We recently had the chance to connect with Morgan Lester and have shared our conversation below.

Morgan, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity, every time.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a California native who was raised a bit free range. There were a lot of us kids so it was easy to entertain ourselves. It’s no surprise I love getting lost in imagination and stories. And, I love novelty so the constant evolution of my work is what keeps me geeked.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My achievements are backed by a collective of incredibly genuine people who lend me their wisdom, offer advice, and feel joy when I succeed. I feel so lucky to have friends and colleagues who are so rich with knowledge and experience and have my back.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
When you’re pursuing this career, you have to be ready to go it alone at times. There will be lots of beautiful, strong partnerships. But there will also be circumstances where you have to be the one and only. Bet on yourself, build yourself, count on yourself.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think my closest friends would say sincerity and fairness matter most to me. That’s a value I carry through my professional and personal life. I do a lot of advocating for equity and fairness (probably to a fault), and tend to pushback against anyone who stands on the neck of others to snatch something they want.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
I’m giddy to go to work all the time. When the stakes are really high, my focus and determination becomes an incredibly contained reality.

But later, sometimes months later, the excitement always finds me and I can appreciate how cool that experience was.
