We’re looking forward to introducing you to matthew barry. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning matthew, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Drove my 15 year old daughter up to Mountain View, CA to see a Conan Grey show at the Shoreline Amphitheatre. I had no idea who he was but this kid put on a show and watching how happy my daughter was seeing her very first concert was priceless.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
For the firstt 30 years of my life I was an actor, having starred in Bernardo Bertolluci’s “Luna” and opposite Kevin Costner in “No Way Out” among many other films and TV shows.
For the next 30 years, I was a casting director having cast such hits as “The Notebook” “Rush Hour 1 and 2” “Mars Attacks” “Con Air” “Alpha Dog” “Freddy Vs Jason” and many more
For the past 10 years I’ve taught at my acting studio in Sherrman Oaks, helping actors to advance their careers.
Recently I’ve been producing having just completed “Quiet Storm” starring Vanessa Hudgens and Mira Sorvino. Currently in post production.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That I could be a great baseball player – LOL – had the desire, just not the talent
Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
As a teacher my students often take my advice and it helps them to advance their careers.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Friendship. Loyalty.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
I don’t believe in regrets. I believe in choices. We make choices, so why regret something that was your choice in the first place?
