Joanna Revel’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We recently had the chance to connect with Joanna Revel and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Joanna, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
A question, that in essence bears alot of profound layers. An expression that has always resonated deeply with me, is No Two journeys are the same” Walking a path, has always resonated with me, in terms of living a life that is true to my core values, and what lights up my spirit, speaking ones mind and finding aspects of life that truly mirror what I hold dear wrapped around a deeper integrity. And I have found along the path, that the moments of wandering, also can lead us back to our true selves, wandering is also a very valuable tool in the art of being more present, real and to never abandon ourselves, I found that when I honor that truly, I bring the best outwards ,in service to whichever project or aspect of life that comes my way .

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a California native, with a strong love and interest in visual communications and entrepreneurship. This love and passion channeled into becoming a founder and Creative director of a creative boutique business, celebrating the fusion of retro styles, los angeles most certainly celebrated over many decades, and history, I blend, a deep love of styling amd merchandising, sales and marketing with a strong eye for presentation, its a labor of love that additionally has also taken shape into location photography print sales at art shows, answering the call of the creative always leads to so much adventure, and hopefully a deeper understanding of oneself in the world, sharing and collaborating.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
The connection and collaboration of people, is most certainly a complex one, but if one is to truly keep a strong bond with others, it’s so imperative to confront oneself and never abandon oneself. What breaks people apart, oftentimes, is not being seen clearly, or rushes to judgemtent or the elephant in the room, disloyalty. Restoring anything fractured can amd is always possible, if a person is willing to be accountable and communicate effectively, the bond could always have a fracture but deeper understanding can help salvage any disconnection or resentment. If one does the work inside, the outside and its bonds. Can be made strong or in the best scenario, unbreakable

Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
There is a definitive moment in time, the college Years, as I call them the glory days” was a time in the later 90’s that held such a feeling of freedom, truly in the moment, surrounded by very incredible music, cinema and art on pop culture that truly spoke to a generation. Although the surge in all the technology has been amazing in certain capacities.
The time period of my university days. Holds such a deep well of nostalgia for me, its hard to encapsulate it into words, it was a beautiful moment, I go back to it in my mind often and it fills me with gratitude, to have lived in that time, in space in the world

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I hold a very strong belief that what you speak or do unto others, or the energy you convey, somehow comes back to either lift you or teach you. We are here to uplift, empathize and connect, its the deeper foundation of what I believe is behind all that we do or endeavor to do. It can’t be proven , but I believe that harsh judgments or a lack of accountability will come back and in apparent ways and hidden ways , approach us all again to confront those aspects of ourselves we refuse to see clearly, but in doing so we are liberated amd can truly understand the deeper mechanics that are going on, our work, creative projects and connections drastically improve, once we are truly present with ourselves and willing to correct parts of ourselves that need to be challenged

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
A true, loving free spirit that followed an inner calling to live an authentic life , true to her values with a deep love and compassion for others. My ventures and Creative outlets all are inspired by this philosophy of truth, the moments, finding the beauty in the present and healing oneself to also better understand others in a deeper, more meaningful way.
It’s a beautiful life” live it well and love your life
