Story & Lesson Highlights with Amanda Deming of Los Angeles

We recently had the chance to connect with Amanda Deming and have shared our conversation below.

Amanda, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
One of the most surprising things I’ve learned about my clients is how much they truly trust us an how loyal they are. A lot of our clients have been with us for 19 years! For first time clients, what often starts as a first-time session turns into loyal relationships. Many of our clients rebook regularly and even months ahead because they know they can count on not just a massage, but a truly personalized, restorative experience.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I remember feeling powerful for the first time as a kid when I talked a bully out of beating my friend up after school. I realized in that moment that what I said and did mattered, and I could actually shape the outcome of a situation. That feeling of being capable and in control stayed with me, and it’s something I carry into everything I do today.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
I wouldn’t call them “wounds” but growing up. I was a latch-key kid. I was home alone all the time. I was lonely and scared and sat a lot. However, I have realized that in those moments I was building independence, confidence and power.. It has shaped me into who I am today. I have built a successful empire on my own which allows me to spend my time with those who fill my heart with joy, creating new memories and having so much fun with life!

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
The version of me that people see in public is the real me. I show up authentically—real, raw, and genuine—while treating everyone with the same respect and care. I strive to be positive, professional, and approachable in everything I do, whether I’m working with clients, colleagues, or friends. For me, authenticity isn’t just a value—it’s how I connect, lead, and create trust in every interaction.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I feel completely aligned with my life’s path—I was born to do this, and I know there’s even more ahead. As a child, I prayed for guidance, wondering how I could make a difference in the world. Deep down, I always knew I wanted to serve, to help people feel good, though the exact path wasn’t clear. Today, I live my purpose in the wellness industry, dedicating myself to helping people heal, connecting on a deeper level, and uplifting others’ experiences so they can thrive in life. Every day feels like a continuation of that calling, and it’s a privilege to share it with the world.
